Question about Porter Cable 16 - Gauge Finish Brad Nailer Kit

1 Answer

Porter/Cable 15 gauge angle finish nailer

This air nailer works about 20% of the time. When i pull the trigger, air escapes out of the trigger area. So,I bought a overhaul kit and replaced all the seals, including the trigger assembly.Did just what the instructions said, put it back together, and the problem is still the same.I double checked it 3 times,no luck! And i did put oil in it.Cant somebody tell what to trouble shoot for?????I am stumped!!

The driver assembly can sometimes get bent or the tip can get a little deformed causing it to hang up in the nose. Other than that, not much else it could be if you rebuilt the whole thing

How do I replace the trigger valve assembly on a Porter Cable DA250C nail gun

There is one pin with a retaining o-ring that must be removed holding the trigger arm in - then there are 2 roll pins that must be driven out with a small punch that hold the trigger valve. Once the 2 pins are removed the trigger valve can be pulled straight out.
When you install the new trigger make sure the recesses in the trigger line up with the holes for the retaining pins.

Freeman PFN1564 shoots air when you disengage safety and pull trigger

if you mean it only shoots air when you pull trigger and not a nail , disconect from air supply and open side of nail mag. (two screws on side) look for forign object in front towards head end , sometimes the paper that nails are wrapped in gets stuck in there , also there is a small spring metal clip at front of mag is this broken off and is unusually short ?

Porter Cable FN250c wont shoot with every trigger pull. sometimes it shoots correctly (10% of the time), other times it just pops (no nail) and other times it shoots two nails at once. Also when it...

Worn trigger and or worn firing valve. Remove the trigger and look for wear on contact surfaces (worn pin that holds trigger, worn inner lever inside trigger, worn or loose firing pin in valve ). Easy test for worn trigger. Remove the nails, remove trigger, fire the gun against wood with finger to test for proper action. If it works better without trigger, consider replacing trigger with new (I would also order the oring repair kit that includes the firing valve )

We purchased a Porter Cable Staple Gun, Model # DA250B. Unfortunetly, it does not explain how to load the staples into the gun! Could you please help us. Thank you, ...

Porter-Cable/Delta has an excellent support site, where you can find pdf manuals, part numbers, etc.
http://servicenet.deltaportercable.com/

Porter-Cable DA250B is an angled finish nailer- it drives 15 gauge brad nails, and won't work with staples. There are some smaller pneumatic tools that can drive both brads or staples, they are typically the smaller 18 gauge fasteners.

If you have the correct 15 gauge angled nails, the DA250B manual has nice pictures showing how to insert them.

Air escapeing through triger assembly

The problem that you are describing usually occurs when fine scratches in the head allow air pressure to bypass the orings. Here are a couple of simple tests. Remove the trigger from the gun to give access to the trigger valve plunger. Remove the nails from the gun. While pointing the gun away from you, connect the air supply. There should be no air leaks. Now quickly depress the trigger pin all the way in. This must be done with a very rapidly movement. If the gun fires, then the safety foot is not pushing the trigger pin all the way in. Check for worn trigger or safety mech. When the safety foot is depressed against the work, the trigger pin should be depressed all the way into the trigger valve for the gun to fire. Hold the trigger closed tightly and very firmly depress the gun against the work, the gun should fire. If it does not fire try next test. Remove the head from the gun. Hold it in your hand and depress the headvalve all the way into the head with you thumb. While holding the headvalve in, place a finger over the small venthole on the mating surface of the head and release the headvalve. Vacuum should hold the headvalve in the head for a moment until you release the vent hole. If the headvalve springs back with finger over venthole you must remove the headvalve and inspect the surfaces with maginfing lens for fine scratches. Remove scratches with very fine paper to obtain smooth polished surface. Lube surface with silicone lube (looks like vaseline, sold in small container at Lowes plumbing department used for lubing faucet orings ) re-assemble gun and make sure that you tighten headbolts firmly. You should be ready to work. Good Luck!
