You seem to have more than one issue.  Why did the bar flex in the first place?  If you have a Craftsman or Liftmaster operator, unplug the operator and remove the cover.  On the motor shaft, carefully, use a pair of pliers or vicegrips to turn the motor shaft in a direction to move the carriage away from the bolt.  This may not be the only problem, the gear assembly part # 41C4220A may need to be replaced.  I'm still wondering why the bar flexed in the first place?

Stuck in up position against unit protector bolt . . . will not move with either control . . . unit only clicks . . . appears to have opened too far compared to other doors?

Der Randy,
If you want to learn to be a garage-door-opener-mechanic, now is the time to start.
I have done a dozen of these like this.
You start by unhooking the garage door from the track, by pulling on the emergency cord that is hooked to the connector, which releases the door from the opener.
( Now, you can work it by hand, until the opener is fixed.
Remember not to let it latch again until the opener is fixed. You must watch it.)
Then carefully take the stopper bolt out of the track, and if it is highly pressurized, watch out that it does not fly out and hit you in the face.
Nope, you should be free to adjust the chain travel, electrically.
There are two adjusting screws on the opener motor that will change where the door stops and starts.
You should be able to adjust these now to get the door to open and close properly.
Once it is working properly, attach the door to the opener assembly. God bless your efforts.

When pressing remote, there is a short electrical hum, but the door fails to move. Up or down.

Sounds like the opener has opened to far and the trolley is now jammed against the stop bolt.

Chain tight against stop bolt and will not close

Take the stop bolt out and run the garage door down.
Adjust your up travel limit so it spent open up so far.
Replace the stop bolt and nut.

I have a Sears Crafstman Garage door wireless opener. Model 139.53615SR . The door hums but nothing happens. The chain doesn't move. The springs on the door broke last year and i replaced both of them....

My plastic gear stripped soon after a spring broke. I think the broken spring put a huge load on the opener that day and ruined the gear. Replacement wasn't too hard. It will be obvious when you remove the cover if the gear is stripped. Here are instructions:

I have a sears craftsman door opener. I replaced the logic board after a neighborhood lightening strike. Another recent strike has effected the new board. The door went up but won't come down. The light...

There isn't a reset code. It sounds like you may be having a door sensor problem. Is the small light on each sensor lit and not blinking ever so slightly? Does your door start down and then reverse to the open position? Is the door stuck in the open position? Check to make sure the trolley isn't jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. If it is then remove the bolt and run the door until closes. Then adjust the up limit on the side of the motor unit. Turn it in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover about 3 turns. Be sure to then replace the bolt.

Garage door went up..but now wont work

It sounds like the trolley (the thing the door is connected to) is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. Remove the bolt and then run the opener until the door is closed. Now locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit and turn it about 4 turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Replace the bolt.

Opener only makes clicking sound when activated by remote or wall

where is door trolley, up or down. did it go up too far and wedge against bolt in track. take out bolt to release and try. put bolt back in. did you overheat motor. wait 15 minutes. give more info. (Does light bulb blink 10 times, then safety beam problem affecting door going down).

My garage door will not stay down when I try to close it.

IF THE DOOR CLOSES ALL THE WAY WHEN HOLDING DOWN THE WALL BUTTON AND REVERSES 6" FROM THE FLOOR WHEN NOT HOLDING THE BUTTON.
I WOULD GUESS THAT THE SAFETY EYES ARE MOUNTED ON THE TRACK.
WHEN THE DOOR CLOSES THE TRACK AT THE BOTTOM IS TOO TIGHT CAUSING IT TO FLEX AS THE DOOR GETS NEAR THE BOTTOM. WHEN THE TRACK FLEXES THE EYES ARE POINTING FURTHER AWAY FROM THE DOOR AND EVENTUALLY THEY ARE TOO FAR OUT OF ALINMENT AND THE LED WILL GO OFF - THE DOOR GOES BACK UP.

SOLUTION: YOU CAN USE THE CLAW END OF A HAMMER TO TAP THE TRACK OUT A LITTLE WIDER - TAP NEXT TO THE WALL ON THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE TRACK TO THE WALL. MOVE THEM ABOUT 1/4" EACH SIDE.

OR

YOU CAN MOUNT THE BRACKETS TO THE WALL OR THE FLOOR.

THIS SHOULD SOLVE IT

HAVE A GREAT DAY
