I hooked up my Crown Xs1200 and switched on as normal. Made a loud Low frequency rumble and immediatly shut off and went into "fault." now when you turn it on it comes on, channel 2 clip light comes on for about 2 seconds then it shuts down and the "fault" light come on. And this is with NOTHING hooked up. no input, no output. only power cord. I've had other amps do this, but would never expect it from Crown. anyone know what i may be doing to cause this power amp failure?? Thanks

I have had this very same problem with this amp. I purchased it brand new a few years back, never had anything go wrong now, forget it I've had it looked at once already and thought the problem was fixed then the problem came back again, but now worse. The AC mains light stays on and won't shut itself off and on top of that , I used it for my Bass set up w/ BBE preamp and got no power at all now. What is this problem thats happening?

Check speaker to power bank protection circuit. The circuit is faulty indicating to the power amp that speakers are disconnected that shuts down the amp to protect the unit

Try pressing the Reset Button, if that does not fix it take it to the repair shop. If you do not have experienc you can do a lot of damage.

No power to amp

You probably have a bad channel or you could try unpluging the amp for 2 minutes and plug it in again to let it reset.

When i switch on the amp it came on for about one second then switch off and fault light came on

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

From what I know about these and after checking the schema , I would say that a thermal fuse in the main AC transformer is open.

I have two xti 2000 amp running with electrovoice speaker 600w

This is most likely to be a heat issue where the amps overheat and shut themselves off then cool down and turn back on. Please check that the amps have proper ventilation and that any air ducts are clean.

Amp cuts off

The amplifier is going into protection. This may be caused by problems with speakers or wiring, or there may be internal problems in the amplifier. Start by connecting a known good speaker with a few feet of wire, and see if it runs without shutting down. If so, check the wiring and speakers. If the problem continues, the amp should be serviced.

Crown xti2000 cuts off

The protection circuit is most likely shutting down the amp because of heat. When the amp shuts down, does it feel hot? If not, then further investigation into the protection circuit will be necessary. This is not a problem that is likely to be diagnosed remotely as measurements will be required internally once the amp has stopped working. Check the sepaker wires for shorts that will cause the amp to work extra hard (generating extra heat). Other than that, you will need a servicer to diagnose further.
