Loud screeching noise when it powers on

Over the last month or so I had heard a noise coming from my tv faintly but you could not hear it over the volume unless you really focused in on it... today I turned the power on on the tv and its making a very loud screeching whining sound i shut the tv off and it continues for a couple of minutes and then stops... also the color is all messed up on the picture... if anyone could be of help that would be greatly appreciated.. thank you

Thanks so much for your help. My husband is crazy and took the entire TV apart and found the part that was making the screeching noise but he didn't know what it was called. He brought the part to a TV repair place and it is the colorwheel. The guy at the shop told him that the RCA tv's have samsung parts inside. So he had the part replaced for $200 and is now going to put it all back together. I found a great site where someone explains step by step with pictures how to replace your own samsung colorwheel. If you would have someone come to check it out the whole thing would've cost like $500 or so. Here's the link in case anyone has the same problem and is handy and can do it themselves. Thanks! http://www.jangro.com/a/2006/07/24/samsu...

It wont turn on.

If the power light does not come on and it makes a screeching noise, most likely its broken. I would contact the manufacturor, in case some warranty left.

Heard a pop when I turned on tv and now nothing

don't leave it on and have it looked at---most likely is if it uses a lamp that may be the problem but if not it may be in the power supply.

Loud screeching noise upon starting

It is your serpentine belt slipping on one of the metal pulleys and the friction is causing the high pitch screech. The belt may need to be tightened or replaced, which is an easy fix.

If the installation is as bad by Foxtel as mine was, that is your problem. In my case a loop was created when the filter was left loose in the junction box which was resting against signal booster. Find the point where your Foxtel enters your property. Open the junction box. Check that none of the components are touching each other.

Loud screeching noise coming from car after stops.

the screeching noise is most likely caused by a slipping belt or pully. transmission probably needs fluid and filter changed.

98 gs300 loud screeching noise that last for about 5-10 seconds

The only four rotating items under the hood are
engine
power steering pump
A/C compressor
and smog emission pump.
==== I would check the fluid level on the power steering first. Check for pink fluid leak on the ground,
==== Check the A/C system with the wheel turn to one side and APPLY ALL LOADS.
Example: high beam on,A/C max, radio on and deforster on.
This will give you system a stress test.
All eyes on the pully and locate to part that generate the loud screeching noise.
My bet is on the power steering pump.

Please post more info on the comment window.
I will follow up on it.

Are you sure this noise is not just the ice maker trying to cycle without water? If it is not turned off it will dry cycle every 15 min or so.

Samsung DLP loud vibrating noise

The color wheel is the most common problem in DLPs that cause noise. To determine the cause: Turn the set off. If the noise goes away after about five seconds, then, the problem is the color wheel. If the noise goes away one to two minutes after shut off, then, the problem is a fan. You can find an Authorized Servicer in your area that can tell you the price of repair, by clicking on the Samsung link: http://www.samsung.com/Support/ServiceLocations/index.htm
