Select some text in the document that contains a known mispelling. Under Tools > Language, look at the box for "do not check spelling or grammar." If it is gray or checked, uncheck it. Run the spell check.
This is a text-specific setting, like bold or italics. It does not apply to a computer, an instance of Word, or even an entire document. This is different from the setting under Tools > Options > Spelling and Grammar, which applies to all documents opened (but does not override the text-specific settings).

And you using the cd installer that came with the office 2007 suite? check that you spelling right and also you dont need to put in "-". If you have any other office installed on your computer uninstall those first, then try to install office 2007 professional
You can customize the installation. Put back your Microsoft 2007 Office then when the option menu showed, choose custom installation. Like that you will find option to use english or other language pack support.

Open MS Word and click on the Office logo in the top left hand corner, now click on word options and now click on the "Proofing" tab on the left - Now make sure your screen looks like the one below, if it doesn't put the ticks in the relevant boxes and click ok. Then restart word and type and it will correct as you type - If it doesn't then the Dictionaries are wrong, but we can sort that out.

Also, in which specific programs are you attempting to use spell check? Office 2007 does include dictionaries for spell checking, but they are not compatible with Outlook Express. Spell checking should be available within the Office 2007 applications. If it is not, go to your Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs and Modify your Office 2007 installation. You will need to install the English proofing tools.
