Trying to add speakers

Hi there I am trying to add speakers to my system so that I can have the desktop PLUS the speakers that are built into my monitor all work at the same time, desktop speakers will work if I plug into the headphone jack on front of my I-INC AH191D monitor but then obviously the speakers in the monitor don't work, is this possible? Or do I have to have one or the other? Windows Vista home

Thanks :)

Hi,
The speaker system built into the monitor is configured that when a plug is inserted to headphone port, the speaker is mute. This is normal. (Consider when one wants to hear from a headphone, but not from the speaker, this is most user friendly configuration), same with sound system in a laptop/PC notebook. However, for some system it is configurable, please check your monitor manuals.

The only way i can see of feeding two sets of speakers from the one pc would be to buy or make up a "splitter" audio lead .....i.e a 3.5mm stereo jack on one end connected to the pc with two lots of wiring going to 2 3.5 mm jacks. I don't know whether a store like Maplins would sell such a lead. Are you any good with a soldering iron??

1.locate the control panel where the options of systems setting is displyed.
2. a click should dispaly a list among which is device speaker options

Hi , I own a viewsonic LCD monitor model va1912w. My system has Windows XP. There is no sound from the monitor even after connecting the sound cable from CPU to monitor's audio jack. I have already...

http://www.viewsonic.com/support/downloads/drivers/?prod_name=1912

Try the above link for Vista or XP drivers which may be used with Windows 7 in some cases.

The va1912wb came up when I searched under 1912.

This driver is available directly from the viewsonic.com site.

Uninstall the other driver if possible.

I have computor with Norcent LM 965WA monitor. Really liked the fact it had built in speakers. Worked great, now when I plug in the wire from compuitor to monitor, static but no sound. Any suggestions...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

With your indulgence, pls verify that it is indeed the built-in speakers of the Norcent that is the issue. Temporarily plug in to the computer a pair of headphones or even an old external computer speakers. If sound, then the monitor speakers are verified, if likewise static, then it is a computer issue.

Let's try the easy one's first:
  • check/replace the cable;
  • try other ports to plug it in at the computer;
  • determine if the sound device/driver for Norcent shows up in your Device Manager;
  • determine if on Sound Property in COntrol Panel, the Norcent is selected as the default device;
  • you may want to update the firmware and driver available here.

Would appreciate a postback for any updates on any development(s) (or even the lack of any). Pls include what Operating System you are running and if the Norcent is using USB connectors or standard cables. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Sound trouble

Be sure the audio cable is connected from the monitor to the sound card (green port) and that the monitor volume is actually on and turned up. If you are able to get sound with other speakers or headphones connected to your computer then the problem is with the monitor speakers.

This is free unless you want the premium services as I understand it. It just takes time for someone to browse the questions and reply.

Assuming your using a Windows operating system, you need to got to the sound settings and set your computers soundcard as the preferred output device. (Its under Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices in XP)

NO SOUND!

Hi

Pls check if the audio cable from the monitor is connected to the tower. Make sure it is connected to the green port at the back.
Also check the volume button on the side of the monitor and set it to maximum.

If this doesnt work, then try with another pair of external speakers and check.

Viewsonic Monitor sound problem

Hi check the sound cable hasn't fallen out or come loose from the back of the monitor. After this reinstall the drivers for the monitor you will be able to download them from viewsonic if still not working then the speaker jack or speakers are faulty.

Hope this helps
Thanks J
