Wireless: you need to have a wireles card/ dongle/ something.

IF you have setup WEP security, then you are going to need the KEY (64 or 128 bit key) located under the routers' WIRELESS SECURITY Tab. Enter the KEY information as you are connecting (prompted) by the connecting computer.

CABLE: If you plug a cable in, your computer should automatically recognize the connection inside 20 seconds. Plugging one end of the cable to the Computer Ethernet connection, the other end into one of the Yellow numbered Ports (1-4). THere's a blue port for WAN Connection.

Need to know if you are on XP, 98, Vista before proceeding

What are the symptoms? Are you connecting wirelessly or through an Ethernet cable?

Try it wired first, if doesn't work its your basic configuration if it does try removing WEP and running unsecured. If you can connect focus on your WEP settings, if you can't connect focus on the antennae, hardware, and radio settings. If you connect without WEP and can't connect with, use the 64bit hex key it generates instead of your pass phrase. Many wireless cards have trouble using the passphrase.

Will setting up a wireless laptop on Linksys WRT54g router mess with 3 computer ethernet wired connections ? I want to set my lap top to WPA2. Right now it's at WEP:(

it all depends on the win version you have.
Please go here (http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT54G) and hopefully it will have the answer you are looking for.
Obviously you know how to set up your router, since you already have three computers hooked up.

I have many wireless/wired pc's and wireless/wired mac's on the same router, with no problem at all.

Many routers can handle upwards of 30-40 connections without a problem and high quality ones can handle 254 (that's the max for a class C subnet).

Good luck

You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem

I have two computers receiving wireless internet via my Linksys WRT54G router. I recently purchased an Acer Aspire one (mini computer) Can hook up to wireless at my daughters and at other places, but...

Hi,

For you to resolve this problem, you'll need to reset the router. Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds, and when you are prompted for the user name and password just input "admin" in both fields.

Try connecting your computer to the router after this process.

Good Luck.

Router not hooked up properly

Router setup
If you are using the cd that comes with the router, that is the problem. You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed.
then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
