Is Ultimate Mahjongg 15 compatible with Windows 98

I have Ultimate Mahjongg 15 which I have downloaded along with direct x 9 from the CD. As soon as I click on the settings window it reverts back to my desk top. I am not able to access any of the other windows at the bottom of the screen. I am able to play a game on only one setting and as soon as the game is finished its back to desktop. I have no trouble with Ultimate Solitaie 750 which is also included on the same CD. My programme is Windows 98.

I installed mahjongg 4 and it keeps saying it has encountered a problem and is shutting down and i uninstalled and re installed and same thing??????

Uninstall the program, restart your computer, and install it again. Before opening the program, restart your computer again. If there are still problems, Mahjonng 4 might not be compatible with your operating system. If you aren't using Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP, try right-clicking on the program icon, click on properties, and click on the Compatibility tab. In the 'compatibility mode' box, choose the option to run the program in compatibility mode. Select Windows XP and press apply.

I have several older pieces of software that I would like to use. However I need to dumb down my laptop from window XP to windows 98 Is there a cheap/free way to this?

most windows 98 software can be ran in XP using "compatibility mode", but you might have to adjust other compatibility settings to get it to work. i have never had problems running windows 98 software in xp, or even vista, even without compatibility mode, so your actual hardware may be to blame.

to access compatibility mode, right click on the program's .exe file or desktop shortcut and choose "properties" and then select the "compatibility" tab. there you will find options to run in windows 98 mode, and several video options. you may have to try several different video configurations along with windows 98 mode before you find the one that works.

if the compatibility options dont fix it, then the processor is probably too fast for the program, and you will have to download software (if available for your motherboard/model) to underclock, or slow down, your processor. to find the right software to do this will take quite a bit of research, and may be beyond your skill level.

there is also a free program called microsoft virtual pc that can run other versions of windows in a "virtual computer" inside your windows xp desktop. you can download virtual pc from the microsoft website, and i believe that it comes with, or has available for free, a windows 98 virtual os. if it does not make the windows 98 virtual software available for free, then you will, unfortunately, have to purchase a windows 98 cd on ebay.

to actually wipe xp and replace it with windows 98 may not be feasible because the windows drivers might not be available for your computer, and the proper drivers are necessary to access all of your hardware. there is no support for windows 98 anymore, so the drivers are quite hard to find, if they were even ever made.

I have Mahjongg variety pack. I was using windows xp. I now have Vista. It will not play on vista.

I just installed it tonight. (Yes, I have Vista.) Two of the games work great. All I did was right click the icon that was on my desktop (I made copies and put them on my desktop - the program didn't do this), clicked on properties, clicked on the tab called "compatibility", checked the box that said, "Run this program in compatibility mode for", and from the dropdown list, I chose Windows 98/Windows Me. Also, I had to temporarily disable Avast, and turn off "real time protection" on Microsoft Security Essential (I turned it back on after the games were installed.).

The games that work for me are Mahjongg Empire and Mahjongg Master 3. Rahjongg the Curse of Ra is being obnoxious (I came on here to find a solution) and the other one won't do anything, not even install. Anyway, I hope this helps you get at least the first two games installed.

I have a new Windows 7 ultimate. I have the cd Multimedia navigator for Windows 95/98 Ver 1.0. Is it compatible or should I download a new version?

It's not possible to install windows 95/98 version on windows 7 platform. Well, Some programs can be installed using the "compatible mode" from the program's setup properties, but this feature is available only for windows xp and vista on windows 7. I've tried this trick with many applications but never successful. I hope you understand.
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

If you buy a brand new printer all of those are already included in the box along with a manual.

As for your printer maybe you can download a new driver which is compatible with a new OS.

Pc game not compatible with my DirectX

This game is for Windows 95/98/ME. And you dont specify what is your problem. The game doesn't install? Or after installation, it doesn't run? What exactly happens?

Anyway, if you're having problems running the game, you can try to:

If you're on XP or Vista:
- Install latest Direct-X (9 or 10, according to your OS, on Win98 and ahead you can install up to Direct-X 9): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en

- If on XP/Vista, right-click on the game EXE and set compatibility mode (select properties, then compatibility, and on "compatibility mode" select to run the program as Windows 98 (try all options to see if it runs on any) - and try also the checkboxes below, to run the game in 256 color mode, on 640x480 resolution and to disable "visual themes".

Also update your graphics driver to the latest version available.
