That is just your default "blank" startup page. You can change it your web browser.

IE - Tools > Internet Options. In General there is Home page field for you to customize.

Other browsers have similar settings.

I cannot load Web pages but wifi is on. Am using windows 8. What can I do to solve the problem

Wifi might be 'on' but make sure you are connected to a network.

If you are then make sure that any other wireless devices can connect to the internet first.

If they can then on your laptop do the following:

Hold the windows button on your laptop (it looks like a flag) and press 'R'.

This will open a black command prompt window. Inside this type the following:
ping www.google.com
and press enter

If the result shows it receives 4 responses then you have an issue with Internet Explorer and I would download Firefox browser onto another computer, save it to a memory stick and install it on your laptop.

If the result shows no response then you have some kind of networking issue. Try plugging in a network cable from the back of your router into your laptop and try again. If that works then you will need to try reinstalling the wireless drivers, if it doesn't, then I would reinstall Windows.

I cannot access the Internet. It says i am connected, and comes up with a sign in notification. When i select the notification, it opens the browser and loads a completely blank page. This network does not...

REGARDLESS of what the initial notice says . open the drop down menu by swiping from the top notice line downward . tap the wifi icon and it will turn off. then turn it back on and tape the gear icon that will open settings , tap the wifi line to open the wifi settings. you should see your network there and be able to sign on.
you should start with a blank browser page just type in a website or topic. it should go to the site .
also try installing firefox from the store and then use the desktop icon to open the browser.
if you still have problems comeback and describe.
I have 3 galaxy products Tab 4 ", Tab S 8.4" and note 3 smartphone
all using kit kat. so i should be able to walk you through this one

I already asked the question and then had to get off the computer. The question was how do I stay on the WiFi internet through netgear router. When the WiFi symbol shows I am conneted if I go too Chro

Need to know your signal strength and if you're connected with proper credentials. If the wifi signal is weak, the computer may disconnect to look for a stronger signal. Sometimes ipv6 is the culprit on older computers too. Disable that and use ipv4 only. There are multiple reasons for dropped internet so the more info about your system and the conditions under which the internet is dropped will help in diagnosing the problem without sending you on a wild goose chase.

Slow Internet/Keeps Cutting Out

Hi try to test your internet connection by using a a eithernet cable and directly pluging into you router and computer. If your connection works fine with that connection then try to reset your router back to factory settings and use a new password just in case someone has been bumming off your wifi. also contact your service provider to have them ping your system, they can test the connection from their end.

What is the blank page?

Do you mean "about:blank"?

This is when you do not have any website entered on your address bar. There is a setting on your browser that uses the blank page as the home page so that whenever you open your browser it will not load any website, then you may type your preferred website in the address bar. This saves time for you to go to a website without waiting for the home page to load.

If you would like to setup a home page, follow the steps below:

If you are using Internet explorer:
Go to Tools -> Internet Options. Change the Home page to any website that you want (ex. google.com, yahoo.com). Then OK.

If you are using Firefox:
Go to Tools -> Options. On the drop down button beside "When Firefox starts" select Show my home page, then enter any website that you prefer on the home page field.

I hope this helps!

Browser doesnt load page

Just like a computer browser, whenever you browse the internet, the G1 will download images, text, passwords, etc from all sites accessed. it places this info in a place called a 'Cache'....it can get so full it will prevent pages from loading. to fix this, clear your cache. there are 2 ways to do this.....

1: MENU > SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > MANAGE APPLICATIONS > BROWSER > CLEAR DATA

2: BROWSER > MENU > MORE > SETTINGS > SELECT CLEAR CACHE, CLEAR HISTORY, CLEAR ALL COOKIE DATA, CLEAR PASSWORDS

after doing that, turn off and on the handheld and try it again. if you keep up on doing this everytime youre done browsing the web, it wont happen again.

good luck :)
