This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

The pictures may be in a subfolder, but they should still show up while you are in playback mode.

If the images are erased, don't take anymore with the camera and download free software recovery program from www.Z-A-recovery.com I hear that it works well.

You will need a card reader to try to recover your images...assuming they are lost. Even if they are not lost, a card reader may help them show up for you.

have you tryed another xbox av cable if that doesnt work it will most likely be the av socket. if its the socket you will have to contact microsoft

Try unplugging the set for a munite and check the internal/external switch on the back if this model has one. If sound is not restored you have audio circuit problems
