Question about RCA G36705 36" TV

Open Question

RCA CTC-197CE2 HI I have a Model simalar to the one in the Photo, originally it had a HV problem, I fixed that part, now have raster, menu, and no station Audio, however when setting up in the menu, it scans for channels, when done it says "0" channels put into memory or something like that, I had a different RCA set with the same problem, replaced the tiny dual SIP Chip in the Tuner and fixed it, I have done this twice already on this one with no luck, any other ideas as too what might be the problem? SOURCE: I have an RCA converter box hooked up to an RCA tv

Basically, you cannot use the coax connections for both the VCR and the RCA converter box. I would hook up the phono/cinch connectors from the VCR to the TV if you can (these are also called RCA connectors, but I'm avoiding using that name so we dont confuse the digital receiver with a cable/connector name that is the same here). There should be a yellow one for video and red/white ones for left and right stereo. I believe the RCA converter comes with a three headed cable that can do this for you. With this configuration, you can set the TV to input on these connectors and the VCR should always output there. Once that is set, you can still use the converter box to receive the signal from your antenna, then run the coax to the VCR. Now, the VCR will always have to be set on channel 4 in your setup and you will need to manually change channels on the converter box for it to record a show. Does this make sense so far?

That model has a history of bad flybacks and HV splitters. Can you look on the rear tag and let me know which chassis version you have either a CTC or PTK number?

Did you replace the STK convergence IC's yet? If not, thats your trouble, or you have a plug in the wrong place. i doubt if the yolk is bad, as that would most likly blow out the horizontal output transistor and the set would be dead. Good Luck, Please do not forget to rate this thread.

Your problem is the convergence IC'S. They have STK ###-### the # are numbers. You can get parts at http://partstore.com. If your not a tech and an experimenter or a handi person Pease be aware of the hi voltage inside these sets. Also be aware your going to need to unsolder and resolder the ICs in and from the printed circuit board. Good Luck
