Unfortunately with most tv's today, you can't do much other than change channels or volume control without a remote.
Do you have an input button on the tv, if so, that will allow you to change from TV to video.
This problem may be more complex than just the selection of a channel to receive video. The first problem is what channel to receive the video. Usually its received on channel 3 or 4. You select that on the video output and match it on the TV. That assumes your recorder is attached via the RF (antenna) connection. If its hooked up via the component connect then you must have a remote to select IN1 or IN2 on the TV to receive video. Remote controls are available on line. Do a search on your TV model and remote control.
Try to change the channels without the remote control ie with buttons below the TV set. If it works then you need to get your remote serviced. There might be some stuck keys in the remote. This may happen at any time or possibly after being on for awhile in which
something heats up and drifts out of spec.
The low voltage regulator may be letting the voltage rise excessively. Then,
a dark picture or video muting during a channel change triggers the X-ray
or power supply over-voltage protection.
Monitor the output of the low voltage power supply B+ to see if it is stable
as the brightness/scene changes.
I just purchased one of these televisions and it didn't come with a remote. However, a Philips Universal Remote (SRU2103/27) with a code 0520 works fine. I haven't explored all the codes but I can easily change from tv stations to Video 1 and Video 2 merely by pressing the "Input" button on the remote.
