Question about Lexmark X2500 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Our printer won't feed the paper through.

How can we fix our problem. The paper starts feed through and then stops. I can hear the printer itself working. Is this worth fixing? Or will we need to buy a new printer?

I am having the same problem as the previous poster. My printer has only been used about 5 times but, has been sitting in a shelf for almost a year. In my case, the wheels cannot possibly be worn out.

The pickup rollers can become glazed or clogged with paper fibers reducing the traction they can apply to the paper.
I am not personally familiar with your printer so I don't know how accessible they are but they need to be cleaned or resurfaced with a compound that bonds to the surface of the rollers and restores their grip.

SOLUTION: I was just having this problem with mines but I was able to fix it. The I don't much about any memory overload or anything (I only do simple add and subtract computations). First I removed the cover and removed the paper from the feed (its a pain I know to reload but you want you're calculater fixed right?). Next I removed the ink roller (it's marked 'PULL UP'). Then after some tinkering, nudged the numerical stamp to the left 2-3 times which immediately started the feed right up. My explanation is that the printer had gotten jammed/off track causing the FEED to stop working. You'll know it definitely if you hear a low quick hum each time you switch to the print function which is probably the little motor saying 'hey, umm I would print if I was connected to a printer!'. Happy Calculating!

Paper won't feed from both tray and manual feed tray...motor starts, attempts to grab paper, but doesn't

Paper feed issues when there is no Paper jam. All the rollers move when the printer tries to feed paper. It'll feed about and inch and a half of paper and then stop showing a Paper Jam.

85% of paper jams are caused by worn rollers . The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth, so they won't pick up the paper. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable and the paper jams will cease. If you plan to keep your printer,

Replace the pick-up and feed rollers.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

False paper jam on HP J6480. partial reset doesn't work? Is there any fix

When resets don't work, there is a deeper problem. The sensor for paper feed can be bad and you can tell if you hear a fast zip sound shortly after powering up. Also a paper scrap can be lodged inside stopping the paper present sensor from working. Also when paper feed is started if the roller is dirty and can't pick up paper it will report that as a jam. Take a look inside and write back if nothing helps.

Paper jams on Canon MF3240

Start with the paper itself. Make sure it is in the machine properly. Here is a short guide on a few things to check:

Paper not feeding properly, nothing jammed as I have checked. Loading tray having problems.

Check to see if the printer is actively trying to feed the paper. If you hear it trying to feed and see the wheels turning, but the paper won't feed, check to see if a screw securing the feed wheel has come loose. If you hear the sound, but nothing moves to pull the paper in, then you probably have a bad printer. They're too cheap to replace to bother fixing - so get a new one.

Paper feeding halfway through then stops

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

Mecha error 07

Mecha error 07 and 08 are malfunctions of the paper feed pinch motor located in the right side of the paper compartment. The paper feed pinch is the first roller to grab the paper when it feeds into the machine. This error is tricky. I will walk you through a few fixes.
The first fix is to just power cycle the printer and try to reload the paper. Occasionally the pinch arm will end up in the wrong position due to the printer stopping because the ribbon was empty.
The second fix is to check and make sure that the sensor arm is reaching both sensors on the motor. Sometimes the arm binds on the metal plate inside the paper compartment causing it to not reach the sensor.
The third fix is to start replacing parts. The two things to start with would be the sensors and, although rare, the motor itself. After those are ruled out the only other options are the wiring harness running from the sensors to the junction board, the junction board itself, the power cable running from the junction board to the controller board, and then finally the controller board itself.

Good luck!
