The suggested solution above is relative to Vista, not XP Home Edition.  You may be having a DirectX problem as this game should run on XP.  Do you use other games with no problems?  Here are the minimum requirements for this game: Minimum specs

    Operating System
    Windows XP/ Vista

    Processor
    Pentium 4 - 2 GHz

    Memory
512 MB RAM for Windows XP (1 GB RAM for Windows Vista)

    Hard Disk space
    1.20 GB

    DVD-ROM Drive
    8x

    Video
64 MB graphics card with shader model 1.1

    Sound
Direct X 9 compatible sound card

    DirectX
    Direct X version 9.0c

    Modem
    Broadband 256 Mbit

If your pc meets these requrements then please tell me exactly what the error says. :)

The below taken for a tech support forum.

What about right clicking on your .exe file and under properties, then compatibility
    run as administrator
    run as XP SP2

then right click on the folder the game is in and go into properties, security
    click the EDIT button
for all those users allow full control but the main one is your username for the computer
    click on - FULL CONTROL

If you have XP you uninstall your game. reboot and press F9. go to safemode and fire up the autorun. if nothing happens when you press install you restart your computer and log in your normal user. Then you install your game and it should work perfectly =) had the same problem in red alert 2 and after i did that i had no problems.

but if you can install it in safe mode just continue and it also should work =) (remember to install it for all users)

CAN OR IS THERE A FIX SO DEER HUNTER 5 WILL RUN ON A COMPUTOR WITH XP SOFTWARE

If you mean Deer Hunter 5: Tracking Trophies, then there is hope. That game is meant to run on Win 95, so XP can play it. All you need to do is enable Program Compatibility. Use the link below from Microsoft's website to walk through the process, and you should be hunting Buck in no time.

Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2009 Black screen

Hi,

This sounds like you dont have enough video card to play the game,, I just went to the game's website to check, and it dosent say. I recommend checking the side of the box. If you are under spec for the video card this will happen. If you find that you are in fact under spec, I recommend purchasing a new card from Tigerdirect.com.

If you need help with the install, get back to me, I CAN solve this problem.

DEER HUNTER TOURNAMENT

There could be a number of reasons you are getting this exception error.  It is usually a hardware problem, but also could be a bad disk or virus.  First, make sure you have anti-virus software (up to date) and fully scan your computer.  Next, make sure DirectX is current. You can do this by clicking HERE and selecting continue.  If all of this fails, click HERE and then choose the second link V1.0, and then choose a mirror to download the file from.  The file is in.7z format, which you can unzip using winrar etc.  Once you have the file decompressed (unzipped), copy it to the installation folder where Deerhunter is installed (normally c:/windows/programfiles/deerhunter), copying over the original .exe. file.  Before you do this, rename the original file you are copying over to "orig_DHT", in case you need the original again.
If all of this fails, let me know and we will examine other issues such as corrupted registry etc. :)
