Polaroid i836 camera - BATTERIES WON'T WORK & NEED SOFTWARE

Hi.... Just bought this camera used. The batteries in the camera were almost all tapped-out and needed replacing, SO I put in some others that I have (that still are working and aren't dead) and NOTHING! The camera will NOT power on. I swapped-out several pairs of batteries and nothing. Just the old batteries will make the camera power on, but then I get a msg on camera that says to replace batteries.

Also, the software disk was missing so I need to down the program and drivers. I can't seem to find them online. HELP!!!

I figured this out.... Maybe this will help others that have the same problem.

You need batteries that are made for digital cameras! I used some Kodak rechargeable and the power came right on and I was able to take pictures. Be sure that the batteries are FULLY CHARGED though, because this camera seems to **** power pretty fast.

Check which way the batterys were put in and see what kind of batterys your camera takes . I'm not saying you don't know what your doing .but somtimes when we get frustraited we forget what we are doing .check the contacts for the batterys in the camera . put brand new batterys in the camera. if ya bought it on ebay then go back from who you bought it from.

Please give me ordering info for mailing me the manual for the i836 Polaroid camera instead of downloading which I prefer not to do. What would be the cost for this service?

Contact Polaroid and request the manual.
Alternatively, you can download the manual at http://www.fixya.com/support/p2630668-panasonic_kx_tg1061_phone/usermanual-FC0366E-PDF then take it to an office-supply store where they can print and bind it for you. The cost would depend on the store.

My software had been corrupted for polaroid i836. how to get software.

You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I need to find a usb cable for a polaroid i836

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

Can i use my polaroid i836 camera as a webcam?

No. The i836 was designed to store still images (and incidentally, videos) to memory. It was not designed to stream live video to another device.

That probably wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

Yes it sounds like you should return it. If you just bought it I would not take the chance, exchange it for another one and see if you run into the same issue. Then go from there. If you need further assistance let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

I bought one today , and I had the same problem. I tried four brand new pairs of batteries and when I pressed the power button it just wouldn't work. I was going to return it tomorrow, but decided to try it again. I inserted the batteries that it originally came with and it finally worked. I tried the other batteries and it worked also, but not on the first try, in the third or fourth try. Maybe on the first few tries the batteries need to warm up? Anyway, it's working now.

this camera has hi-resolution which takes up a lot of memory, the internal memory of the camera is only sixteen megs. all you need is to add an sd card with 1 gbyte of memory and that will solve your problem.
