Question about Logitech Quickcam Chat Webcam

No video in Skype 3.8 with Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000

Trying to Skype w/ my dad, who's used Skype successfully for months. My dad has his camera built in to his laptop and has had no problems w/ Skype or camera. I just downloaded and setup Skype and my brand new webcam today. I cannot get a video to keep up in Skpye - going outbound to my dad. I can see him but he can't see me. Most of the time I get the message that "Skype can't access webcam." But it DID work and I got video thru to my dad two times but it froze then cut out after about 30 seconds. Since, it just keeps giving me the message that it can't access my webcam. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both my webcam and skype. Rebooted my computer after each reinstallation. Still, the video won't keep. Very frustrating. PLEASE HELP!!

I have exactly the same issue, had not cd drive, so downloaded the driver sw via net, then installed everything, the camera I mean, works perfectly and the first call with my wife who is in Zurich while I am at Harvard in Cambridge worked very well, I could even show her the apt I had found for us. Then, suddenly the camera stopped working with skype and I had the same red message telling me that skype cannot access the logitec cam ... I restarted and did everything including the tipp from our friend who said it is a typical device issue. Deleted what I loaded and retried, but it still does now work anymore, I get this stupid message that skype cannot access the camera because maybe some other ap uses the video signal, but there is not other ap

My Webcam Logitech 9000 worked perfectly with Skype and stopped and gives no sound but I can hear the others. It will give a different failure message: one time it's the video, next time audio. I use a less expensive camera now that is working but I miss my good logitech. I have updated the drivers...didn't work. Uninstalled, reinstalled, had it work for 20 seconds and then end. It worked briefly if I put it in a compatibility mode for XP SP2. However, I run Vista and it really is not compatible.
The issue began when we got Microsoft updates and it's been a nightmare with other programs ever since.

Same problem. Video stops and says the camera is in use by another program. The sound continues and the only way to "fix" it is unplug the camera and restart the computer. Video can stop after a few moments or may go for an hour or two.

I use Vista 32 bit, Logitech Communication MP, skype.

The webcam used to work nicely, no problem for a few months, then it stops sending video out, but I still can see my contact and myself when I try to record myself. Audio still work fine, though.

I just solved my own problem, post here for your reference.

Turn on Skype-->Tools-->Options-->Video Settings, make sure Logitech is selected at the top and select "people in my contact list" in "Show that I have video to".

Hope this help.

Sounds like your classic driver problem. Look in Device Manager and find your webcam. Right click on it an update driver/reinstall driver.

hi freeman319

you might want to try and uninstall the quickcam application. as i've researched skype is having problems with certain cams compatibility. just try and uninstall the quickcam application but not the drivers. with this you may still be able to use the quickcam with other applications.
you can uninstall it through the control panel>add remove programs

also if you are using a headset or separate mic and headset with the video call you would want to disable the mic on the quickcam
go into Device Manager and disable the microphone in the Pro 9000

ofcourse this is just some things you can try but is not guaranteed to solve your issue. please let me know if this works. thanks.

hope this helps

You need to select the correct camera from the menu options of Skype: enter the Tools-menu and select Options; select Video from the categories on the left hand side; check  Enable Skype Video and select your camera from the dropdown at the top.

Making camera work with Yahoo Instant Messenger

Windows Media Encoder enables the ability for you to "LIVE" broadcast using your webcam utilising Windows Media Encoder 9 and your participant viewers watching you using Windows Media Player at the recieving end. So in other words, you are effectively setting up "your own" live streaming broadcasts either video, audio(such as internet radio) or both from your PC without using the likes of Skype, Yahoo, IM etc.

The advantage of having a logitech webcam is the support you have.
I just launched my logitech toolbar and clicked on the lowest panel to see what help you have with your webcam in Skype - check this out

Also there is a good logitech forum from other users as logitech tends to have teflon shoulders when it comes to chat programs

Frozen picture on web camera quickcam pro 9000

Check this; is a bug for Series 9000.

QUOTE(Jamie Watson @ Tue Oct 2 2007, 11:08) 447398
Splitcam has been known and used by some Skype users for quite some time, as a work-around to get Skype to accept video from devices that it wouldn't otherwise see, generally non-webcam devices such as DV camera adapters, video adapter cards and the like. It does seem to "work", at least in so far as some of those people have come back and said thanks, that solved the problem.

Conceptually it could avoid the Pro 9000 problem, since it would be handling the camera, and it has already been well established here that the "video freezing" and various other problems do not seem to occur when the Pro 9000 is used with other IM programs, or even with previous versions of Skype. However, it would add another layer of processing to your data stream, and a corresponding load to your computer, and it might have some negative effects in terms of speed/quality of the video stream. Of course, in my opinion "some negative effects" would have to be put into context compared to "not working at all" if that is your current situation with the Pro 9000, so what the heck, it's worth a try.

I have not seen any reports of virus/spyware/other associated with splitcam; I have seen a couple of comments about it having to be open and displaying adverts, I guess it depends on how much that might bother you; I just ignore that sort of thing and write it off to "they've got to make money somehow".

If you decide to try it, please let us know here how it goes.
END.

Hope help you. Good luck.

Mac Software for Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000

The solution (or, should I say "supposed" solution) posted by yooperbud is 100% wrong, wrong, wrong. As a matter of fact, he couldn't BE more wrong. While the original question asked had to do with software for the QuickCam Pro 9000 for the Mac, the answer he gave is 100% directed at the Windows OS, NOT the Mac. To anyone, and everyone, who has voted his reply a "Yes", I am sorry.

Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 - Movie Sound?

Normal 0 You need to go to the manufactures site and download the VISTA driver for the camera. Then follow the info below to install the program.

Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud
