Whirlpool ET18JK Not cooling, fan runs, compressor kicks on, blows hot air?

Easy tests, put your hand on the compressor, if it is vibrating it is running. Touch the two lines coming out of the compressor, if they are both warm then the valves are shot on the compressor, if they are just regular temp then you have a refrigerant leak, if one is hot and the other is cool then you may have a blocked cap tube, which means a $600 fix. If the compressor isn't turning on I would check the thermostat for bat contacts. When you set it to low there should be a small ammo unit of resistance and if you turn it off the meter should say OL. Good luck

Hot spots on outside of Amana fridge. sxd22s2w model

if it feels like it's running hot check the coil to see if it needs to be cleaned, remove the bottom kick plate and look at the coil, the coil should be cleaned once every 6 to 12 months, also pull the fridge out, remove the back bottom panel, make sure the condenser fan is blowing and vac out any lint near the fan and compressor, also check the cover that you removed and clean that too.you might want to unplug the fridge while you clean back there so you don't hit the fan blade, wait 5 minutes before you plug it back in so the compressor can reset itself.there are gas lines that run through the frame of the machine,if the coil is jammed with dust and lint the machine runs hotter, this is how it cools off through the condenser coil and the fan blows the air around to help cool it down,if it runs hot then the freon will run hot and you could feel it on the frame and in the strip where the doors close together.you can buy a brush that you can push into the holes of the coil to pull the dust out or if you have a shop vac you can vac out as much as you can and then put it on blow and blow the dust out of the coil, just hit it with short bursts or the dust will blow everywhere.

Fridge is kicking on but not cooling

If the compressor is "kicking on and off" while the unit itself continues to run, the compressor is failing to start, either due to the start relay / overload kit or the compressor itself is bad.

this is one part of the refrigerator I recommend you have a qualified refrigerator service test. If tested wrong, you could end up causing damage to compressor, turning an inexpensive repair into a new refrigerator purchase

The freezer blows hot air

not enough info. When blowing hot air, is the compressor running? Is unit an electroinc control or mechanical th/stat with defrost timer. Ill go with what i think.Possibly you fridge is stuck on auto defrost. Inside on the evap.plate is a clixon.(round device with 2 wires comming out ) This item is possibly gone faulty."not opening at a certain temp." making the heat increase in the freezer. find the defrost timer and forward the shaft untill compressor comes on. If it comes on, keep your eyes on the fridge for a 12 hour period. if it happens again after that, call the tech.(normally defrost timer is at the back by the compressor.)

LG fridge suddenly stopped cooling.

If the fan inside the freezer is running and the compressor behind the fridge is running and is hot to touch, you have a gas problem or the compressor is inefficient. This can only be confirmed by connecting refrigeration gauges to the gas system and should only be performed by a fridge tech.

Koolatron Mini Fridge Overheating

Check the condensor fan behind the fridge which is designed to cool the compressor/gas line by blowing air over the condensor. When this fan motor seizes or stops running, the gas gets very hot and because it is skin cooled too, the outside of the fridge also gets very hot. You can overcome the problem temporarily by putting a standing fan behind the fridge, blowing onto the compressor and under the fridge untill you can have the problem rectified.

Trio: humming and temp in freezer rising

It sounds like the condensor fan motor is seizing up. This is the fan that cools the compressor down. Does the outside of the fridge feel excessively hot to touch? Can you feel air being circulated under the fridge or behind the fridge? It could also be a faulty defrost timer. Try to identify where the buzzing is coming from and if it is the condensor fan you can put a normal standing fan behind the fridge, blowing onto the compressor untill the repairman can get to you.
