Problem for Siemens Gigaset 4215 Cordless Phone
Caller id
hi i bought a siemens gigaset 4215 from USA a few years ago.Ihave now brought it to India.The problem is that the caller id feature does not work although i have a caller id subscription and is working on other phones.
I think the problem may be due to differenr caller id systems in USA and india i.e,fsk and dtmf.Is this phone only fsk compatible?is there any converter with which i can receive caller id on this phone?Please enlighten me on this issue ASAP.thanks

- I too have a similar problem on Gigaset C345 model bought in Dubai. However caller id was working in Delhi as well as Chandigarh exchanges. Now it is not displaying in Jammu. I am being informed of fsk & dtmf systems exchanges are working with in different places. Which is a preferred one for these models? BSNL is yet to standardise on exchanges.- GuestBest Solution

Caller ID in the USA uses the FSK standard. For the most part, caller ID in India uses DTMF (although I have heard of some FSK usage).
I am currently living in New Delhi and have an Airtel home phone line. My switch uses DTMF. I went to the Palika electronics bazaar (I aways use shop number 266 near gate 5, they seem to be a little kinder to foreigners as far as the "final price") and purchased an DTMF to FSK convertor. My US phones now show caller ID information, although using US number seperations ### - ### - ####. I paid R500 but you could probably get it for around R400 if you are willing to put in the time bargaining. It looks like they are also available on Indian Ebay.
Mine says UST001B. It looks like these are low volume items because they stuck the components into a box marked "DSL Splitter" It works to convert the caller ID as advertised.
