You probably need to update your software. You can download it from your service provider or from RIM: www.blackberry.com

Try a firmware update on your blackberry. I do not know which country you are in which service provider you are with so please check carefully when going through step 2.

Check below steps for OS upgrade -

Step #1
Before starting make sure that BlackBerry Desktop Software is installed on the computer.

Step#2
Make sure that you have installed updated device software installed in your PC. Check this link to get update device software from carrier OS download site.

Step#3

Users can perform a full or selective backup of the data using the Backup and Restore tool in BlackBerry Desktop Manager by completing the following steps:

  1. Connect the BlackBerry device to the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  2. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  3. Double-click Backup and Restore.
  4. Select Backup to perform a full backup or select Advanced to perform a backup of specific databases.
  5. Choose a location to save the backup file, then click Save.
Step#4
To perform a clean install of the BlackBerry Device Software, perform the following steps:
  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  2. Double-click the Application Loader icon.
  3. Click Next to start the installation process.
  4. Type your BlackBerry smartphone password, if prompted, and click OK.
  5. Click the check boxes next to the names of the applications you want to load, and then click Next.
  6. Click Advanced, and then click the check box beside Erase all currently installed applications.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click the check box next to Do not automatically backup the application data during the loading process.
  9. Clear the box next to Backup and restore applications installed wirelessly.
  10. Click Next > Finish.
  11. When the process has completed, the message The loading operation was successful will appear. Click Close to return to BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

8703e stuck rebooting continuosly

if you installed them from any site other than blackberry.com, the app is a 3rd party program and as tech support reps we always recommend to customers that they do not download and install them, as we dont support them, and they can cause problems with the phone. i would honestly suggest removing the application with the desktop manager, then if that doesn't help, reload the handheld software for the phone.

The hourglass on my blackberry pearl stays on..phone won't boot

I would download the latest Blackberry OS from Blackberry.com and install it via the Desktop Manager. You can get the latest OS from this URL:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=577BCC914F9E55D5E4E4F82F9F00E7D4

You can find the model by removing the battery and it should be on a sticker.

8700g BB keeps turning on a off without starting correctly

This is called the hourglass of death...You need to reload the apps, but Desktop manager wont let you... You need to trick it into a connection

First make sure the BB is unplugged, then go to Program Files > Common Files >Research In Motion > AppLoader and run loader.exe. Click next, it will say port : COM PORT 1 now is the tricky part you have to plug in the BB and COM 1 will change to PIN: UNKOWN , when this happens you have to quickly click next before it reboots again, then it will ask for pin and now has an connection with the device so you can go ahead and re load all the apps.

Constant hourglass symbol-draining battery

Hi, this is called the hourglass of death, the device is stuck in a reboot cycle.

You will need to reload the applications, but you can't use Desktop manager because the device resets and the connection drops.

Good Luck
