Your problem could be a faulty backlighting panel or the power connector for the backlight needs reseating.
There are two connectors on the LCD that are connected to the motherboard, one for the video signal and the other for the backlight power supply, reseat this connector and hopefully your problem will be fixed.

A number of possible reasons--from brightness/contrast set too high to a issue with the power supply of the set--a expert would have to examine the set--you might want to call Sony to see if known issue with this model.

Screen flickering

Display Configuration

A flickering screen may be caused by the computer detecting incorrect display settings as it starts or returns from sleep.

It can also come from changes to the screen resolution settings caused by a new program or update installation.

Verify screen resolution before assuming the issue is hardware related.

Faulty Inverter

Next to the display screen behind the plastic screen bezel is a small component called the inverter, which supplies power to the screen backlight.

The flickering indicates the power is not reaching the backlight.

To fix the issue, replace the inverter.

Faulty Connectors

The wires and cables traveling from the display around the hinges and into the motherboard tend to wear at the hinge area.

Over time, the opening and closing of the screen causes this wear.

The solution is to disassemble the plastic casing of the laptop, reorganize the cables so they have no interference from hinges, or replace the cables and connectors with new ones made specifically for the computer make and model experiencing the issue.

hope this helps

The screen is flickering

Call Samsung as on some of their models it is a known issue= on those a jumper needs to be removed from the power supply board, seems the wrong board was installed and is causing flashing on scene changes where brightness goes up and down.

How to solve a flickering screen for toshiba satallite m200? as i open my laptop its hang and the screen is flickering...

@crisanne_21

Most of the time, that cause of that flickering screen is a defective LCD flex cable or sometimes called LVDS cable (this is the cable that attaches the LCD panel to the motherboard - it can be caused by a loose connection or simply, it just may have worn out due to opening/closing the lid). The only way to fix that is to replace disassemble the computer and check if there's a loose connection on that LCD cable. If disconnecting / reconnecting the LCD cable doesn't fix the issue, you might need to replace it Disassmebly guides can be found here.

Screen flickers

If light is good and picture flickers, then it is either a bad LCD ribbon cable, or cable not well placed into connector, or a bad LCD display, usually it is the cable.
If picture flickers like light is dimming out and coming back, then it is the LCD lamp, probably in need of replacement.
In some rare case a faulty Video card is causing the problem.
Usually to fix this you need to take apart LCD display and upper laptop plate, to reveal the display cable.

TV picture flickers

If your DVD player is separate from your tv, you might have a loose cable plug or connection. Depending on the type of flicker you have, a vertical circuit loose connection would cause this. If you could connect it to a cable or antenna it might tell you where the problem is located. A faulty circuit in the DVD might cause this too. Stargazer
