This is 1 of 2 problems. 1; Convergence(depending on the model of the TV, the convergence ic's will have cold solder joints) 2: vertical ic issues.

If they are different colored lines & the picture also bends, it's a convergence problem. Else suspect a vertical problem. In the case of vertical issues, most of the time it's a defective capacitor (or cold solder joints.).

If it's the 3-crt kind of big screen, it's possible for one of the tubes to be going bad.

It would be best to contact a pro to take a look on your TV and replace the defective components. This should not cost you too much.

Good luck!

Panasonic PT-47X54J Not working

I can't tell you how to fix this set, but I can tell you that its not a "lamp" issue as this doesn't have a lamp. Its a 3 picture tube projection TV. the three tubes are in a red green blue format, and average about $175 for each one, not including the labor to install them. your problem, may not be the tube, but just a power supply problem, but there is a chance it is.

Vertical line splitting screen

We have had issues like this that ended up being the digital convergence module. There are surface mount electrolytics that suffer from dielectric absorbtion (dry out) and they must be replaced. It's much easier to replace the module than to repair it, the convergence will need to be reset once this is done. If you have the original remote control you can gain access to the service menu to reset the digital convergence. Joe Weibel
