Re: double images blurred picture with lots of red
If when you go to Menu then setup and Do Not see convergence then you have open fuse FL231 400ma It is on right side of Flyback Transfomer there is 3 of them in a roll it will be middle Fuse But they do not look like fuses they are small brown rectangular looking. For Part http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

You will need to see if the auto convergence feature is still listed under the setup menu or has it disappeared. Respond to this same post and let me know if its there or disappeared and I will assist with what needs to be done based on wether its missing or not.
Hi, Please run the convergence feature on your TV. Its giving you double image because the red, green, and blue guns are dis aligned. By running convergence it will realign the guns properly. You need to run the convergence feature at least once a week. Please note this is only for CRT rear projection TV's and I assumed it was. If it is an LCD rear projection, then there's nothing you can do to fix such thing, but call a repair person. But if doing the convergence doesn't fix the problem, you need to call a repair person. But I hope you won't have to refer to the manual on how to go about it Good luck!

These procedures are from the owners manual, go into menu and then picture quality and then:
The Convergence feature lets you adjust the TV’s three tubes. When the TV tubes’
images are precisely aligned, they create the color images you see on the screen.
Over time, the picture can drift out of alignment (this is normal). If your picture
seems fuzzy or has a yellow tint, using Convergence could correct this
misalignment. Only one convergence is needed for all inputs, regardless of the
Note: Make sure the TV has been on for at least 30 minutes (TV needs to
warm up for best results) before starting Auto Converge or Red/Blue
When you select the Convergence feature, a submenu appears with three options:
Auto Converge Automatically aligns the projection lenses to self-correct
color images. You’ll see flashing squares of color dance across the screen
(this is normal).
Note: After performing auto convergence, use the Blue Centering and
Red Centering menus to fine tune convergence in the center of the
screen, if necessary.
Blue Centering Aligns the blue and green images to fine-tune the picture.
Red Centering Aligns the red and green images to fine-tune the picture.
Note: The ability to change channels is disabled when adjusting the
convergence options. The TV must be tuned to a usable signal to
converge the picture.
You have problem with convergence. Have you tried adjusting in the users menu. This is a common problem in this type of TV, usually two convergence amp need to be replaced and sometimes sets of resistors are also to be changed.
Just to clarify, it sounds like what you are saying is that the image
appears to duplicate in either red or blue along the edges of the image
(especially white lettering and probably increasing along the boarder
of the TV). This is resolved by converging your TV. Convergence will
drift normally on large screen projection TV's over time or through
moving them. The Hitachi 57f500a has a feature called "Magic Focus" (pg
36 in your manual) which will auto converge the image. If the auto
converge feature doesn't work, on page 37 in your manual, it explains
how to converge manually. If you do not have the manual, I have the
image of the pages below. If for some reason this doesn't work, please
provide additional info and detailed prior to rating the help.
You may have to clean the crt's and lenses and the mirror. Unit may need total convergence from the service menu. If image is blurred in only one area like the corner I would suggest NOT to adjust the electrical or mechanical focus.
This is what is known as convergence..(very common)... first question DO you have the "CONVERGENcE" option in your setup menu?.... if you dont there may be a special fuse issue... if not then more than likely it is what is known as convergence power supply issue. you have complete loss of convergence?
Well, fortunately the television that you purchased has an auto-convergence feature. What is happenning is that your color lamps are misaligned, did it get moved at all recently?
Anyway, in your menu you should see a "Convergence" menu, and inside that menu, a section called "Perfect Focus". Run Perfect Focus in this sequence: Green --> Red --> Blue
After that your picture should look great, if not try tinkering with the manual adjustments on the "Convergence" menu. Here are some URLs that you might find helpful: (just copy+paste into your browser)
