This could be several things but I would try a greyscale alignment first.

Hello,

Replacing the lamp will do the job. It is the lamp that is faulty not the gun or the mirror.

It will cost just a few box to get a new lamp.

Take care and good luck

Tip

My TV picture has a greenish tint.

The first thing to check is the cables connected at the back of the TV.

Check cable connection, and try using a different cable, video signal is often coded in separate colors signal, and a bad cable can cause a green picture when red or magenta (depending on type of signal) are out.

A faulty receiver or DVD player can also send a bad output. Try connecting different devices to TV.

If the cables and receiver are OK there are also internal faults that can cause the same effect.
The fault depends mainly on the model and type of the TV set.

On all TVs a faulty input/output can cause greenish picture.

On all digital TVs the signal is also elaborated on different color channels . Video circuits are often located on digital board.
A fault on digital video processing can cause a green picture.

If you have a rear projection CRT based technology, one of the three CRT may be faulty, or the power board supplying the CRT (red in your case) may have blown.
In that case you will get a greenish picture.

If instead you have a CRT TV, a greenish picture means that the red gun inside the cathode ray tube is not working. The CRT itself must be replaced.

Generally, when the problem is not the video cable , or the connected device, the TV must be inspected and repaired by a technician.

If you have a new digital TV, as an LCD, Plasma, or any non CRT based technology, the problem is usually caused by cables, input output, or connected devices.

Check the cables thoroughly, if that is not the problem, call manufacturer to find the nearest repair service location.

I have a sony wega and the picyure is clear but has a green tint what could that be

There are several possibilities in that area. The Picture Tube (CRT) is driven by three different video signals. One presents the Red, one the Blue and one Green. All other colors are derived from a mixture of those three colors. The greenish tint could be a sign that the green gun is being over driven or the Red and the Blue are less than adequate to create a normal picture. Sorry to say this but the most common problem that causes that symptom is the emission in the "gun" assembly inside the picture tube is declining with age and hours of operation. Sony Picture tubes are typically good for around 40,000 hours of use. I don't recommend replacing the picture tube. If the set is more than 5 years old I would suggest that you start looking for a new set.

I know this is bad news but I am just telling what I know the most likely scenario that I have seen in 35 years of TV service.

cleaning the CRT lenses and mirror will help, however with that model I would suspect that the gree and blue CRT needs the coolanr changed to get a your color and clarity back. thats a common problem with all phillips rear projection TVs

VIdeo Problems with television.

If these are diagonal green lines then one of two things is wrong. You either have a bad video driver transistor for the green on the CRT board or the IC the controls the CRT (jungle IC) is bad. The possibilty of a bad green gun in the CRT is there as well.

Picture has greenish tint that I can't adjust out

There is a crt drive problem and you can isolate it by unpluggin g the set, removing the green crt socket, in the middle of the three tubes is the green tube by the way, remove one of the other tubes and switching the crt sockets and turn it on. If the set is still greenish, then the green crt is bad and needs replacement, if another color is primart, then it is going to be the green crt drive circuit and is going to need to be serviced. Good Luck

You did not say whether it is bright, overdriven with retrace lines in it. I've have seen what I just described in Magnavox (common) and Zenith TVs. If you're unit looks like what I just described it could be one of the following problems. The fix for the Magnavox was a 10 ohm safety resistor in the green drive circuit (on CRT board). For the zenith it was the drive transistor on the main circuit board prior to the gun but after the video IC. In either case you will need an O-Scope to signal trace the video circuit to find the culprit. If this is within your expertise go for it, safely of course. If not, get a professional to do it.
