Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

Turns on but no picture or sound and the machine sounds quiet?

My Xbox has just passed its first birthday. I took it round a friends for a few days and it worked fine.

Once i brought it home and hooked it up with my HDMI cable again it wont even show a thing on the screen.

It powers up and the green light in the middle of the power button lights up.... the circle flashes green when i sync the controller but then it doesn't stay lit as if one is? The controller is defenitly synced because i can turn the Xbox on with it.

Anybody else had this?

It sounds quiet as if it isn't loading or booting up the way it used to.... doesn;t sound like it is even attempting to read a disc.

Please help.

Thanks.

    Hi,

I am not using that connection mate, mine is just connected by a HDMI cable.... it is set up the exact same way it was before i took it away over Xmas.

While i was away i had to plug it back in to the old cable because the TV i used it on wasn't HDMI compatible.

Everything is set up exactly how it was before.

Even if it wasn't connected properly to the TV that wouldn't explain the fact none of the green quadrants are connecting or that the machine sounds quiet as if it isn't reading anything.

    Any more suggestions?

I have the same problem. I didn't even move mine. I turned it off and took a break then went back to play and nothing. It sounds like it is working and trying to load. The remotes work but I have no sound and no picture with or without a disc. Tried another tv and the same thing is happening. I did read you can reset the console display setting by turning the console on with the remote and pressing the Y button and and holding both triggers but that didn't work either. I don't know what to do either.

Same thing for me, I went to play my Xbox today and my TV said not supported for the HDMI cable, plugged it in for hdtv came up weak or no signal and same thing for regular AV connection. Tried to hook it up on a regular TV with AV connection and got sound going in and out but no video. Don't know what to do.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WORKED THE DAY BEFORE AND NOW I CAN TURN THE CONSOLE ON WITH THE WIRELESS CONTROLLER BUT THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENS TO THE CONSOLE AFTER A SECOND OR TWO.

I AM USING A MONSTER CABLE HDMI CORD AND NOT THE SUPPLIED A/C CABLE FROM THE FACTORY. THERE ARE NO SWITCHES ON IT AND YOU CAN'T USE BOTH TYPES AT THE SAME TIME ANYWAYS

Same problem, hadn't used the 360 for around a week or so, pressed the button on the joy pad, 360 turned on but looked like the controller wasn't sync`d... pressing the sync buttons made the ring lights spins then appears to find a match but reverts to just the power light with no video or sound also noticed that the 360 is a little quieter than normal (as in not booting in to dashboard screen)

For info - Tried mates Joy pad and power supply on my console with same results - other than that its wired up with HDMI nothings been unplugged or anything - just managed to break itself - good ol Microsoft Grrrrrr.

I was having the same problem, and what seemed to fix mine was my hard drive. I keep my 360 on it's side and it [hard drive] was falling out a little. I pushed it back in and that seemed to do the trick. Also, when I fix my red rings, I just turn the console off, unhook EVERYTHING and leave it out for a minute. Then I hook everything back in (power cord, hdmi cable, ethernet cable, and hard drive) and it usually works out ok. I'm not saying that fixes everything, but, it has for me in the past.

A common occurance with the xbox360 is people forget to flip that little switch on the side of the video cable plug from TV to HDTV. Check that out, and let us know.

You'll need to use recovery game tag, and verify your status with MSN Microsoft, Think about changing your password, could your profile is being used at a friends house, maybe add a pass code to your profile.

Loud buzzing noise

Mine is loud also when playing games. When playing DVD's it is not. I think it is a factory defect on some of the systems. I would not attempt to pull apart the DVD drive and try and fix it. It is working and on an XBOX 360 you should feel lucky that it is.

Crazy color???

It sounds like you both have problems with the video card. If your 360s are some of the earlier ones then that is more that likely the problem (it happened to a friend of mine). 18004MYXBOX is the Xbox support number and will try to fix it over the phone of have you ship it out to them (they send you a box and its all paid for).
