Question about Celestron (93604) Tripod

2 Answers

I need to buy a new tripod but it seems that everything I see online is either 57" tall or they don't list how tall it will get. I am 69" tall and don't like to have to bend way over to see through my viewfinder. Where can I get a tripod tall enough so I can stand up straight to look through my Nikon D60?

Check out Manfrotto tripods (www.manfrotto.com); they produce tripods that have maximum heights up to 8 feet 9 inches and they are available through any reliable photo supply store such as B & H Photo in New York.

I purchased a great tripod on ebay from a gal who has a million different types from tabletop to professional grade. Just log on to ebay and type in camera tripod and you 'll find dozens of suppliers with exactly what you want. Hope this helps.

Need a replacement plate mount

This is a problem, but if you have a camera shop in your area, I suggest you consult with them. I haven't had any luck doing this previously because there are so many different quick release mechanisms and the sizes vary and they look exactly the same. If the shop can't help, go online to Samsonite and try for a replacement from them. If you don't know what it even looks like...you're in big doo doo, but if you do know then you can find them by the look and then measure the sides and the distance from top to bottom (which tells you how big the slot needs to be). The problem there is that many of them are not listed by size but by the part number. If you can get that, it's much easier to look for one. I know....it's ridiculous! for such a little but very significant piece of the tripod. Good Luck

I need the quick release plate that holds the camera on the tripod for the Solidex tripod # VT-92XT model. Where can I find one? I live in the Seattle, WA area. Thanks.

As far as I know Solidex is out of business and since most of there parts are not standard to the other major manufacturers you sould either buy a new tripod or search for the same (exact same) model on ebay or craigs list to find the same model and use it for parts.

I would contact the factory and see if they have replacement part available. Try their website and ask. Most large retail manufactures have parts avaiable.

Think you'll find its a QS29 adaptor which is used on other models. At least the one on mine is labelled QS29 and the pictures look the same. They seem to be available.
