The first thing that you need to do is press F2 and go into the setup. The system may need to "discover" the drive so that it knows what is there.
There is usually a section for auto-detect on hardware and then it should find the drive listed. Then save the new settings (usually pressing F10 to save and exit) and then see if it boots up properly.
The computer will then boot up and should come up. Since this is a new drive, the system will not be able to start, since there is no operating system on the drive.
You will need your Windows CD handy so that you can re-install the OS and then go from there.

I installed just as the instructions said and i cant get my pc to recognize my 1.5tb hard drive

First download this disk iso and add fdisk to the disk and burn ituse this link:
http://www.bootdisks.us/ms-dos/5/ms-dos-bootable-cd-images.html

download fdisk from this link FDisk 6.22
http://www.uv.tietgen.dk/staff/mlha/Download/dos/#FDISK

Once you have downloaded and burnt the disk, make sure the drive is showing in the bios, then set to boot using the cd/dvd-rom and insert the disk.
When loaded, at the command prompt type fdisk, find the 1.5tb hardrive and create a primary dos partition, it may take a while so be patient, once done take the cd-rom out of the drive and reboot the mechine, goto my computer and you should see the drive, and it will have a drive letter next to i. It want contain anything as it has not yet been formatted.
To format just right click on the drive and choose format, choose ntfs and press ok, it takes a while so again be patient, and you should now have a usable new drive. hope this helps, any problems post back.

Good morning. I have installed in my Company a Iomega nas model 450R. This morning after a reboot,it seems it can't find the boot disk and the nas asks for a operating system restore or go back to factory...

It seems that the main hard drive in this server either went bad, had a windows corruption or that one of the internal connections inside this server went bad.

You would need to check on all three of these areas to make sure 1) the main hard drive is functional (which is my first suspision so check the hard drive for errors and if it fails you would need to do a data transfer to a new hard drive). 2) use your windows software to repair the dammaged registry that may have been corrupted somehow (only do this if the main server's hard drive passes its hardware tests).

You would need to run the original os but I would need to know which one you are using to guide you more to solving the regisrty issue.

3) Hopefully tis server has a warrenty and it may need replacing if all else is working.

Try #1 which is the highest supected for failed hard drive issue (remember if discovered that main hd is bad you may need to perform a data transfer immediatly and replace with a new hard drive.

any other questions please write back with status :)

Usb boot disk

Plug thumb drive into a working unit. Go to COMPUTER and find the device. Right click on the drive and choose FORMAT.. when you see the FORMAT choice you will see the option to make MS DOS disk. This is a bootable disk option. Make sure both are checked and choose format. When you want to boot from the USB you will need to (dependent on model of computer) need to press F2 to get to bios and go to boot options.. you will need to find boot order and choose USB drive as first choice or else it will continue to try hard drive, cd, etc.

1 logical harddisk degraded, RAID Poweredge

Revert back to original configuration of hdd in your RAID setup. Boot to SCIS BIOS and double check functionality of hard drives. The error is probably telling you that Disk1 is degraded because disk 0 is failing and you removed the wrong hard drive.

Pci ide controller for third hard disk

You need to enter into scsi bios first, then do an autodetect for hard drive, this will set the IDE/SCSI hard drive on raid controller.

To enter SCSI control you need to press the same key stated on screen on startup (F6 I assume) I think F3 is just boot settings.

If the card do not enter regularly in CMOS settings for the raid then this card is defective.

RAID 0 Array disappeared after reboot

I would try the hard drive on another sata controller/port to verify that the bad drive is in fact bad. If it is really bad, then no there is nothing you can do but replace the drive and recreate the array (losing all data!).

You can not 'recover' a failed RAID-0 array because there is no parity or mirror data on an extra disk like there is with the other RAID modes. This is why people recommend against using RAID-0 for important data (unless you take frequent backups): RAID-0 actually increases your likelihood of losing your data. Statistically speaking, you are multiply the failure rates of each individual drive together.
