Question about Verizon Communications BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Cell Phone - Silver
You can also slide your fingernail around the silver ring holding the trackball in place and remove it... Then you can take the trackball out and use your thumb and pointer finger and move the trackball in all directions really fast for about 15 seconds... Place the trackball back in... Place the silver ring around it... This should work...

I had the same problem and after being told that the sensor was more than likely fried and that I could "upgrade" with the purchase of a new phone I tried to "clean" the sensor myself. I used a can of "Dust Off" )compressed air that you use to clean your keyboard) - shooting the keyboard of the phone from various angles and it did the trick. Good luck!
