At the website www.samsungcamera.com site you can download the manual and the driver for the Samsung Digimax 401 and the Digimax 4010 which are the same camera.
To get there go to the site and click on SUPPORT then at the bottom of
page select page number 9 or in SEARCH type in 401 which will take you
to the Digimax 401. DON'T FORGET THE DIGIMAX MODELS 401 AND 4010 ARE THE
SAME. I proved it since I compared my 4010 manual to the PDF for 401
and page per page identical. You will have to select a language for the
manual and assume also for the camera driver. I found that the Samsung
site was not user friendly when I first used it looking for the 4010
model which is not listed but the 401 is there.
To find out you should check on the Samsung website.
1. Navigate to http://www.samsung.com/au/. 2. SelectTroubleshooting from the Support drop down menu, located top/right of screen. 3. In the Search product support field, typeDigimax 4010. (NOTE: Check that it is 4010 and not 401). Press <Enter>.
Look at anything which appears to be relevant. I have quickly scanned the manual for the 401 and couldn't find anything that was related to using it as a WebCam however, SAMSUNG provided the following information to the question:
USB cable to the camcorder and the PC.
Power On the
Camcorder and put in REC Mode. Windows will detect the device. (If
you are using a DuoCam, you must use the Camcorder side.)
or other webcam software.
If using Messenger,
click on the Webcam Button in the message pane of the "contact" with
whom you wish to share video. Read the agreement and click OK.
got to the link below and download the driver cd for the camera (choose the 401 model)
Install the driver on the computer.
After that use any image viewer software to download the pics from your camera
let me know if you need further help
Download drivers from the samsung website (http://www.samsungcamera.com/). The drivers for the 401 should work for the 4010. If your new computer is running Vista, they may not have a driver, in which case you will need to use a memory card and card reader to read the photos directly.
If you are using a removable memory card, you can get the images directly from the memory card by using an external card reader (if your computer does not have a card reader for your type of card built in). If you need to download the pictures directly from the camera via the usb cable, you can get the driver from the samsung website... you'll probably have to download drivers for the model 401 which I believe is the same as the 4010. If your computer is running Vista, new drivers may not be available, in which case you will need to use a memory card and card reader.
