Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Hi, I have Kenmore electric dryer 27"wide. I was tring to clean the lint screen. I saw some lint in the hole too. so, to remove that I inserted a thin long brush, but it went inside it. I tried to pick that with the help of a knitting needle but I dropped that too. I dont know how to get them out. Please help.

Thanks for the solution, I pulled out both the items by the help of a catcher. So, there was no need for me to open the machine. Thanks once again

I think I can help , I have done this many times , you will need a quarter inch nut driver or a quarter inch socket and a phillips screwdriver , the dryer must be disconnected and you have to get behind it , there are 4-8 screws holding the back lower panel on not the smaller control panel but the large back panel , after removing that you will see the rectangle lint screen duct/housing on your left side , there are 3-4 screws at the bottom of the duct that need removed there , and at the top where the sreen is inserted there are 2 phillips screws that you need to remove. after all screws are out duct should be loose and you can move it out of the way freely and you should see the fan behind it , remove unwanted items and re-assemble. Let me know if you have any more questions , good luck o and dont use the dryer you could do major damage.

Dryer element is blowing

Hi rdneck40...
If your element keeps blowing, then you have an overheating problem.
********************************************************************************

Check and clean if necessary your vent hose.
If you vent hose "seems" to be clean then, try running the dryer with the vent hose off and see if the dryer is not running hot anymore.
Make sure your lint screen is in place and has no tears or holes in it and is still firmly attached to the frame.
If you are running too hot you are not moving enough air thru the system.
It could be that the fan blade is plugged up.
The problem could be a large lint ball build up in the center of the fan or a sock, thin pants,a pen, etc. that has gotten into the fan by falling down the hole where the lint screen is normally inserted.
You have to find the air restriction to solve the problem.
It also can be a loose or worn out blower wheel/fan.
Please take time to rate me.

Lint filter will not go back in kenmore soft series dryer

Lint could be preventing the screen from re-inserting into the slot. Unplug the dryer and use a coat hanger with some duct tape on the end looped around so that it attaches to the hanger and has a sticky side for the lint at the bottom. Remove lint and try re-inserting the screen.

lift your lint lid and remove the 2 screws you see then pry the top up at the edges with a wide flat screw driver. If you have a rear cover remove it then remove the 3 crews that hold your lint catcher assembly to the blower housing and you should find your bulb

Check lint screen come on

Check the tubing the lint goes through (exhaust). This may be stopped up or clogged. There is a build up here of heat or something that is preventing proper air flow.

Back panel removal

it is..remove bottom panel ..after unplugging from wall..remove lint screen next remove 3 screws holding the lint screen/blower housing in place ..clean out housing clean blower wheel with long brush or a long arm clean lint from base and on element housing on right side especially on top of the housing..that is the most important location if lint gets too thick on element housing ..fire hazard....ckd vent behind dryer and to outside if you find a large amount of lint .that is good indication of a restricted vent
