Omziff (http://www.xtort.net/xtort-software/omziff) is a freeware software for USB drives using file level encryption/description using Blowfish, Cast128, Gost, IDEA, Misty1, AES/Rijndael, and Twofish. This is not as secure because it has to decrypt the files when it opens them and writes the decryped file to disk.

Truecrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org) is an opensource software for USB drives using a hidden volume and hidden OS (One OS on the drive is used as a decoy and should contain no personal or confidention data). The files using Truecrypt are accessed through memory and are always encrypted on disk.

These are the two I would recommend.

I forgot my password to open this jump drive. My computer will not let me gain access to any of my files on the disk. What can I do to access it again?

Retrieving a forgotten password on a Cruzer Enterprise drive How do I recover the password on my Cruzer Enterprise drive? Password hint
If you set a hint when you enabled the password protection, click Hint in the log in window to display the hint you entered. If you did not set a hint or still can not remember your password, you can click Forgot Password on the logon window and choose a new password. This will reformat the drive.
Reformatting will delete all files and applications in the user-accessible removable partition.

Password attempts
There is a limit of 10 attempts (default) before the drive is locked and no further access is possible. During this process, you MUST change the password and reformat the drive. This is an important security feature, protecting data in lost devices from brute force hacking attempts.
Reformatting will delete all files and applications in the user-accessible removable partition.

Cruzer Enterprise drive managed by CMC (Central Management and Control)
A drive managed by the Cruzer Enterprise CMC software can be unlocked remotely by the System Administrator when it is inserted into an online computer. The System Administrator can unlock the drive remotely even after the maximum failed password attempts has been reached. The user must then choose a new password. Data stored in the removable partition will be preserved.

If the device is managed but in an offline computer, the System Administrator can send the user a one-time unlock code. The user must enter the code then choose a new password. The existing data on the removable partition will be preserved.
hope this helps

I have a 4 gig sandisk cruzer drive that when I plug into my computer I can't access it.... I can on other computers just not on this particular one.

Hi!

Look for a small sliding switch if there is any on your flash drive and slide it down from its original position or up. This is to remove the write protection.

Kindly let me know the method to recover data from password protected Sandisk U3 Cruzer Flash Drive. My OS is Windows XP. From: The Director, Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Govt. of India,...

I seriously doubt the integrity of this question as any forensics Dept would know how to do this.

There are plenty of data recovery programs on the net that will do the job.

1. Download this tool:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4040651/LLFTOOL.EXE

2. Format

(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)

Have an ADATA PD16 - 16 GB Flash Drive

Formatting this device makes it so that it is impossible to render the driver for it. You need a new flash drive. The reason for this is that the space on the drive doesn't recognize itself to be writeable. To empty files you must delete them, not format the entire drive.

How do I set password to my Curzer

sansa dosent make the cruzer so im asumming you mean the sandisk cruzer, you'll need to install some software to it in order to do so, unfortunatley it will only work in a windows environment, some drives come with the retai lsoftware on them, U3 for example, you may also beable to secure it with windows xp encryption and/or compresion tools, Try downloading and installing the free version of folder lock, not sure if its limited to a time trial or not but other software is out there, try searching for portable apps or flash drive security, Short of buying a new drive this is the only way to password protect it, that i know of anyway, be carful thought some windows pc's will not let you use a password protected removable media unless you are an administrator or have sufficient privileges on that system.
