The gps on my new Humminbird 580 combo won't work. I called Humminbird and they told me it takes 15 to 45 minutes for the gps to work on the first start up. I left it on for about 9 hours and it still wont work. I live in the mountains do you think this could be the problem?

Re: GPS wont start up
Gps is is just that...GLOBAL so I don't think the mountains will be the entire issue. Try in a few different spots. Make sure there is no overhead obstruction like trees and such. Reset the sounder to factory defaults, the manual will tell you how. These factory settings are made for your unit to work 'right oout of the box'. Best of luck! Mike

Reset your TomTom GPS receiver. Some TomTom users report occasional difficulty in getting their TomTom navigation device to start or respond to commands. If this happens to you, remedy the problem by performing a soft reset on your TomTom GPS. A soft reset will reset the data on your TomTom GPS receiver without erasing any data. To reset a TomTom GPS receiver, press and hold the "On/Off" button for 15 seconds or until the device restarts. 2
Let your TomTom GPS acquire the necessary satellite signals outside. If the device has trouble connecting to the satellite signals necessary for its operation, try an easy fix to the problem. Take your TomTom GPS receiver outside, away from mountains, tall buildings or heavy foliage, where the receiver has a clear view of the sky. Wait for a few moments while the device acquires the necessary satellite signals.

We would recommend that you replace the transducer (if you want to keep the transducer inside the hull you may use the
XP 9 20 T with temperature and you can use epoxy to mount the transducer) If you want to keep in the compartment you have created you may want to just put water in the compartment with the transducer so its not shooting through the air.
