Question about Tomtom GO 720 GPS Receiver
I purchased and downloaded the latest Australian Map (V8.15). After installation it removed the old maps (fine, considering it's an update) but then fails to recognize the new version. It shows the map loaded on the device but does not recognize the map when unplugged from the computer - it says no maps loaded.... I had to copy the old version back onto the device, over the new version, using Windows to get it working with the old maps again.
It appears that this problem was a case of non-backwards compatability with maps to application versions. My gps was on v8.02 application which was not compatable with the v8.15 series of maps. I had to remove ALL the software off the gps, allow it to rebuild using TomTom Home up to v8.300 and then re-load the v8.15 maps. This then stopped my older maps from working.......
I can see this working in a commercial sense; ie every time there is a gps version update everyone will need to purchase new maps, but jeez it's bloody frustrating!!
