It is probably because it goes into hibernation. When they drop into power save mode computers seem to get confused when you wake them up. My best advice is either log off when it won't be in use or turn off the power saving option so the computer won't go to sleep

When I turn my laptop on it won't. Let me log in

Hello

With any password issues, be sure you do not have your CAPS LOCK on and, because this is a laptop, be sure the NUM LOCK is not on either. NUM LOCK activates the number pad on the letters of the keyboard and can easily cause login issues.

With both off, type your password in the USER NAME field and make sure it appears correctly (this will show you what you are typing and how the laptop "sees" what you typed). If this is correct, delete this, enter your user name and then re-type the password and see if you can get logged in.

If this fails, you may need to use a "password reset boot disk" to boot your computer up and reset your password. Let us know if you need help with that step.

My Dell XPS M1530 laptop freezes after using my internet browser for a period of time. This all started when my Trend Micro was updating and never finished. I uninstalled it and now have a newer version....

Are you using any type of cooling pad? This problem can happen when the laptop overheats, even if you are letting it sit idle. Another thing you should do is run a diagnostics test and post any problem reports you receive.

I am typing and I get numbers instead of letters. Is there something I can change

Hi,

You have accidentally turned the Num Lock on.

Now depending on the model there are a couple of ways to turn it back off.

1, just hit the Num Lock key and see if its off (type something)
2, Hold down Fn and hit the Num Lock key, again type something.

Regards.

The keyboard can be replaced. Ebay is a great place to get one.
Here is the manual. It will show you how to change it.
