Same for me. Won't recognize the HD but I see it when I go to manage removable storage. Driver problem?? Is my windows outdated?

I had the same problem with my external hdd. I had installed Paragon disk management suite 2009. I ran the program with my hdd plugged in and after sometime(15 minutes) i found my hdd was recognised and working fine. Try it. How it worked for me have no idea but it somehow worked.

you could run the chkdsk utility

click start control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start or you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive

I lost connection to my Iomega 500gb network hard drive. I tried to reboot it but the drive's blue light keeps flashing after power up.

In that case you have a bad connection caused by a hardware failure. Take out the hard disk from the case, put it in a desktop and try to access directly there. If you can then the electronics of the case have failed - you need a new case.
If you can't then you need a new hard disk.

My iomega 500gb external hard drive has a broken.

My Iomega (33654) 500GB USB isn't working. When I turn it on the blue light comes on for a few seconds. I can hear / feel it working but then the light goes off (it is still whirring inside). The computer isn't recognising it. I think it's still under guarantee but I can't find the paperwork. Do you have any ideas?

Power light is flashing

you probably have to format the new drive in your computer. It is rare to find a plug and play HDD. Do this either by right clicking on the drive in windows and selecting format. Or in dos by typing Format d: or if it is your c:\ drive you will need to boot off a boot disk which it sounds like you got the boot but if it is a drive the computer boots off you need to type format c:/s the /s makes the drive bootable

I had the same problem with this hard disk. I have installed paragon disk suite 2009. I ran the software and left it running after sometime it recognised my external hard disk automatically. Dont knw how it happened but worked for me.
