Wrong Disc Use Audio CD Problem

I have the Onkyo Cd recorder Model DX-Rd511 when I put a CD-R or a CD rewritable in to record I keep getting the wrong disc use audio CD warning. I have tried a number of different makes of CD-R but get the same results.

Be sure you use the CD-R Audio discs (also known as CD-R Music discs. They are different from the CD-R discs used with computer CD writers, and are a bit more expensive.

you probably have regular cd-r disks that cannot be recorded on in this unit. You can only use disks marked "DIGITAL AUDIO" for recording

You MUST use blank disc labeled for MUSIC or AUDIO, not generic data discs.

You have to use blank CD-R Audio or CD-R Music CD's in a home CD recorder. It will not record on data disc media but it will play almost and CD with CD Audio music on it.

Tray B of my RCA CD Burner does not recognize any CDs

Are you using the correct disc type??

The manual states that only discs that are labeled:

"Compact Digital Audio Disc Recordable" (Audio CDR)

*or*

"Compact Digital Audio Disc Rewritable" (Audio CD-RW) can be used.

The popular discs labeled "Compact Recordable" and Compact Disc "Rewritable" are for use in computers, and can NOT be used on the recorder.

Page 16 of the manual shows the graphic of the logos detailed above. The manual can be downloaded for free below:

Wrond Disc

The disc you need to use to record is "PHILIPS CDR MUSIC". That is what it should day on the top of the disc. On the left side of the disc, it should say "DIGITAL AUDIO RECORDABLE". I spent a lot of money buying the wrong discs before finally finding the correct one. So I know your frustration!

Wrong disc

Some audio cd's work better than others. I have experienced some problems with the Maxell brand so I switched brands. It can be quirky. Sometimes you get a bad lot of discs. I have had no problems since that bad lot of discs.
