There seems to be something wrong with the device itself, two weeks is too little of a time for it to malfunction. If it is still covered by the warranty, take it to a service center. But it is also not advisable to leave it lying around non-operational for over a month.
Three weeks, sounds like it is under warranty..(take it back to where you bought it, and get an IPod)..I have one that I now have had for 13 months...just out of warranty....and I am having the same problem....
