Question about Garmin StreetPilot 2720 GPS Receiver
I have a Garmin Street Pilot 2720. When I tried to update it, it doesn't seem to make contact with the web site. I get error message, "does not connect". Tried several times. Please help.
The usb port on a 2720 is not fixed to the main board. If the case has been opened some of the contacts on the main board or the usb port on the back of the unit may have been depressed (or they could be dirty) and there is no circuit being made. Check if the contacts are clean and lift both sets up slightly with the edge of a credit card.

When you plug in the USB cable, if your System, Hardware, Device Manager lists "GARMIN Devices", then the problem has to be in your network connection or Garmin WebUpdater. If your Device Manager doesn't list "GARMIN Devices" then the problem is in the computer, USB cable, or 2720.
I have three 2720s right now with bad USB ports. I'm going to try replacing the USB driver chip in each unit, but now I'm just guessing. Hope this helps. Tom
