there is a menu button on the front of the monitor but it doesn't give any options about screen size. it only appears to deal with images. this is a 2217 AOC monitor if that helps. I'm not stupid but this one has me baffled. i've been in the computer busy for 25 years and i can't imagine a piece of equipment you can['t set back to factory defaults.

You need to adjust the width on the monitor itself using the menu button on the monitor.

It most likely will not give a text description of "screen size", it would show an image similar to <> for width.

My 933sn has this stupid problem. when playing old games at 800x600 half the screen gets streched vertically. i play all the other games at 1360x768 but some like age of empires 2 or counter strike,...

Try changing the resolution your TV is putting out; it may not be in full screen, but at least everything won't be stretched! 800x600 has a different ratio than 1360x768

Can you get 4:5 aspect ratio on this monitor, as all my photo's are stretched out of proportion?

Not directly but if you are using them as wallpaper you should set them with the Center (not Stretch) option from the Position setting. But in that case their resolution must be smaller than that of the monitor or the photos will be chopped.

try using paint shop pro or some sort of picture editor and resize the image to what ever your desktop resolution is.

Pictures on wallpaper are now stretched with my HP

Depends on whether or not you are using Windows XP or Vista. Either way you need to right click on the desktop anywhere on empty space and go to properties. From there choose the tab that refers to Desktop, then you will have the option of something like "position". There you will want to choose Tiled or Centered, not Stretched which is what you currently have. That will fix the issue.

22'' LCD monitor aspect ratio is off.

Set resolution to the native 1680 x 1050. Then, using the buttons on the monitor, go into the monitor's menu. go down to "Image Setting", go to "HDMI Mode", then select "PC Mode". This should help everything fit on screen correctly.

Acer x223w issues- freezes

I think it could be an issue with resolution. Since the monitor is so big, some video cards, I noticed, can't support the high resolutions that the monitor can, if that doesn't work try 16-bit instead of 32-bit.

Hannspree HF229H monitor and Windows XP. Images stretch to fit.

I had this same issue.

Go into the monitors menu, go down to "Image Settings", go to "HDMI Mode", select "PC Mode"

Hope this fixes it for you. It worked for me.
