I recently moved and hooked up my HT-R340 receiver. We can hear the radio but we can not hear the surround sound for the tv.

We have checked to see if the wiring is done correct and it is. We also bought a new TV. 37" Visio

SOURCE: receiver won't put out sound to LCD Sharp aquos

I have the same problem with my Sharp Lcd and Onkyo 804. I believe one problem is that the TV can not accept dolby digital or dts digital audio signals through HDMI. It will play sound if it receives a PCM signal through HDMI. You can try switching the type of signal on the cable box settings and on the dvd player. I switched to PCM and got sound through the TV and the receiver. The problem is that PCM is usually only a 2 channel signal and Dolby 5.1 will sound better through the surround sound theater system. I have not found an absolute solution to this yet, but I am willing to not get sound through the lousy TV speakers in order to get top notch sound through the Onkyo.

SOURCE: connecting blu ray to surround sound receiver to tv

Hi, I have just completed this installation myself.
You are correct, HDMI to Amp Input from Bluray and then HDMI from Amp output to TV. Coloured cables are not required to operate the bluray now.
Good luck

SOURCE: separate video and sound on hdmi

yes it would be possible to separate audio and video from your PS3. You would need to go to the PS3 setting for audio and choose Optical instead of HDMI. You would need to connect and Optical cable from the PS3 to the receiver. Then on the receiver you would need to set the digital inut for your source(PS3) to optical.

SOURCE: connecting TV and DVD for surround sound

HDMI is fantastic in that's the only thing you need to plug in to get what you want.
You'll need two of them however. Plug one end of the HDMI cord into the HDMI "OUT" on the dvd player and the other end of it to the receiver..labeled HDMI 'IN' Then, take the second cord and do that step with the receiver back to your big screen...HDMI OUT to IN.
Surround sound from TV sources only needs a L&R audio cable connected to the receiver input labled TV or MONITOR audio IN. Unless you'd like 5.1 dolby digital or DTS from the television that requires devices that you haven't mentioned owning. In that case you will be able to get Dolby ProLogic and Pro Logic II from stereo broad casted sources on your TV.

SOURCE: I just bought a Blue Ray player but my surround

Depending on if your surround system has a hdmi input or not. if it does you can connect the blu-ray player to it. If it doesn't have an hdmi input you will have to run the hdmi cable from the blu-ray to the tv then run a set of rca cables (red and white plugs) from the tv audio out to the surround systems' audio input jacks to get sound through the surround system. Most surround systems don't have an auxiliary input for another video device.

I have a Harman Kardon AVR 130 Receiver hooked up to our surround sound speakers in the house with a Samsung smart TV. Recently it only plays the volume if you listen to FM radio but cannot get the TV...

It sounds like a settings issue. Either on the receiver or TV or both. Check that they can pass Dolby signals. It probably won't work on PCM. Some receivers have the option for different sound on various settings. For example the one for TV could be switched off or on a different connection socket than the one you use. For example it might be on optical, or RF, or HDMI.

Have lenoxx ht 500 surround sound speakers & dvd but dvd is broken, need to purchase another dvd player but can't source lenoxx model, what other models can i connect surround sound to? or whe

If your surround sound receiver unit has rca audio inputs(red/white), you can hook up any brand of DVD player that has rca outputs. You would hook the yellow output from DVD player to yellow input on TV. Hook red/white output from DVD player to red/white input on surround receiver. Hope this helps.

I would like to know if my ht 3913 will work thru the TV sound, I have no problem with it working when I'm using the DVD player to watch movies, but I would like to hear the TV thru surround sound

Directly , no, since the tv sound is always just on 2 channels. But you can convert it in the receiver to surround by activating either the SRS Surround or the DolbyProLogicII options on your receiver.

How do I get my tv to play through the surround sound

If you have direct cable into the television, you will need to use an audio output if available on the back of your set into your HT system.

If you are using cable w/ a cable box you have two options. You can still connect everything directly into the TV then reroute the audio to the HT system... or, you could hook only video to the TV and audio from the cable box to the HT system. Really up to you.
