Try opening the still corrupted files in Wordpad or Notepad. They may open with some data in tact. This is only for docs.

Hi friend,

The only way you can access that USB flash drive is by formatting it, but formatting the flash drive results in complete data loss from the device. However luckily these lost data can be recovered back with the help of a file recovery software. The one which I would like you to use is Yodot File Recovery, which performs pen drive recovery easily. Apart from pen drive the software also supports recovery of files from all kinds of flash drive and other storage devices

The Computer cant open the USB Flash Drive. It said that it is not formatted so I try to Format the Flash drive via command prompt. The command prompt said "The first NTFS boot sector is unwriteable....

It should be the file system problem. Usually a usb drive should be formatted to FAT initially instead of NTFS. Recommend you try the USB on another computer and see if the problem still occurs. If yes, then try format it from Disk Management of your computer. If you can't format, use TestDisk (also a command line tool) to fix the file system error. You can also see from this blog post to learn more about the possible reasons or solution. Regards

How to remove write protect on my usb flash drive

Maybe you are infected with a virus. Run CMD on rrun command or get to run the Windows Dos Prompt. Goto flash drive drive letter. Then type DIR/AH, this will show you list of hidden files in your flash drive usually if you get an autorun.inf you are infected with a virus. Type TYPE AUTORUN.INF with the space in between. This will show you the script if it will run an exe command usually untrusted one. Usually the autorun.inf and the linked exe is attributed to be hidden, system, and read only.

If the files in your flash drive is not so important you can try to delete the autorun.inf only. But you will gonna do this first. In its drive letter type ATTRIB -H -R -S AUTORUN.INF hit enter. Then type DEL AUTORUN.INF. trying to access the flash drive in windows screen you can get that something is cannot be found. But you could actually delete and load files into it. Or try to access the drive rightclicking it then select EXPLORE.

Hope this help. Post comments if this does not help.

Can't open HDD drive

Hi
1. Start > Run > type in cmd then click OK to get a command prompt.
2. Type in chkdsk e: /r (replace e: with the drive letter of your external hard drive).

This won't do any harm, it will fix errors on the disk and try to recover data from bad sectors. It might not solve the problem but it's worth a try. Jyo

Well, in your case you should format the external drive and then try some so-called data recovery software.

First of ALL - Connect your hard drive to your personal computer. And install this software Wondershare Data Recovery on the computer in order to perform data recovery. Get the program from its site.
data recovery (for Windows OS)
Mac data recovery (for Mac OS X)

Good luck. I hope that my reply has shed some light on the problem!
