Keyboard doen't respond to more then 2 key presses at a time

When is try and play games, my keyboard wont take more then 2 key presses at the same time. Example: walking backwards and to the left, then when I try to jump (space) or change weapon (number key) it doesn't respond.

I suspect it has something to do with de driver, is there a solution
(the problem mostly happens with older games, most likely new games have better coding)

Not really, if i connect a USB keyboard, it works fine.
anything else you want to know? examples of games that have this problem: little fighter 2 (lf2.net) and wolfteam (softnyx.net). The first is al very small game, the second is a full blown FPS.

i run Windows Xp, and the drivers you are linking to are just for the touchpad. The first thing i did was check the compaq site for drivers, but they had nothing, so i came here. And yes, my windows is up to date.

thanks for looking into my case.

Have you checked the HP site for any driver updates regarding your system? Are you up to date with all the other windows updates, what windows version are you using?

Number lock key

1. Please tap the NumLock key many times and see if it responds to the tap,

2. Probably your keyboard is in "Alt Fn" mode, so please try to hold the Fn key and tap the Fn key (I prefer to tap the left arrow and right arrow) and see if the keyboard is working properly.

3. Probably your keyboard is failed. It happens, even there is no spill accident. In this case, you need to replace the entire keyboard.

I have a single key (c) that wont respond on my keyboard on my inspiron 6400...can I fix it.

well you may try the onscreen keyboard by going to start-->all programs--->accessories--->accessibility-->on-screen Keyboard.

you can also try cleaning the keypad with a vaccum cleaner bu make sure it should not be so powerfull that it absorbs all the keys....try pressing it a little hard

if still it doesn't work there could be a hardware issue with that key

Keyboard malfunction?

HI,
Run a quick diagnostics on the keyboard . To check if the keyboard is OK .
To do the same
1. Shut down your computer
2. Hold down the Fn key and press the power button
3. PSA diagnostics screen would appear , which would test the LCD and you would hear beeps
4. Second a memory test would run
5. It would prompt you to run advanced memory diags , say no to the same
6. Enter the dell 32 bit diagnostics on the next prompt
7. Run a custom test on the keyboard.

Do post the results .

Thanks

Computer freezes on boot up

make sure the mouse and keyboard are in right connections...if you look closely youll see icons next to ports.
try without mouse at first start up ,load windows and use key with windows logo on it to access start and scroll to shutdown tab and restart...plug in the mouse before restart.
if logo tab isnt assigned press ctrl + esc to access start menu.

Dell Lattitue C400 keyboard partially not responding

Hi!

If you have replaced the keyboard and still the issue is there, then you are right. The controller is shot. You need to replace the motherboard again for this type of issue.
