As long as it is not making any grinding noises, thats good. its keeping your notebook cool. notebooks have a nack for over heating.

Check for dust in the fan, The fan in my old Toshiba was noisy too at the start but once up to speed it was quiet. I bought a replacement fan and fitted it. Easy to do as the noise was starting to irritate me.

My Toshiba laptop P205D-S7802 is starting to make a sound like the fan motor is starting to go out. Can this motor be replaced?

Yes, it sounds like your CPU Fan is about to blow. Once it goes completely out and not turn on, your laptop will run hot and shut down. The fan is replaceable and they don't cost a lot. However your laptop will have to be completely disassembled to get to it and therein lies the cost. Get a quote from your local repair shop, then try these guys at: http://www.generalsystemsconsulting.com
They will repair it and ship it back via Fedex or UPS and their price will beat most quotes including the shipping.

I purchased my laptop in 2009 from currys and only recently its beginning to make noises from the base of my laptop it sounds like iv a problem with the fan of the laptop would this be causing my internet...

Sounds like the fan could be pulling the cpu down or it's overheating. The cpu fins may need cleaning and will stop overworking the fan and start cooling as it's suppose to.The fan itself could be dying.

Laptop recently started to make noise on start up, feels and sounds like it's coming from the area below the keyboard in the lower left part, it's an acer aspire 5570-2067. it makes noise for a while, then...

Def sounds like the fan , from where you say the sound is coming from . normally the fan should be able to be cleaned the panned holding the fan in the left hand corner . clean the fan with compressed air , or a paint brush . if this fails then you need a new fan .

Loud fan running all the time sounds like a jet taking off.

try taking a can of compressed air to the exhaust vent near the fan alot of the time dust and dirt build up can start making your fan cause alot more noise if this does not work I would say the bearing or mount the fan is on would have to be your problem unless for some reason you recently had work done there is a chance they could have hooked up the fan to a direct power supply causing it to run with alot more juice than it should be

ASUS Lap top computer, 2 months old' makes loud fan type noises at each start up.

Hi

Its normal for a laptop computer or a desktop computer to spin its fans at maximum speed during start up - its part of the power on self test.

If the fan is very loud like on this video the sound is very bad -

that would be a bad fan, constant bad noise. but if your fan only makes noise in start up, its normal.

your warranty should cover the replacement of the fan if its bad.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 and the fan has started making noises

Its possible but it would require taking out all the screws from the bottom of the latop, taking out the keyboard and the screws from the top cover. Then disconnecting the ribbon for the mouse pad and any other plugs coming from the top cover. After you take off the top cover you'll expose where the fan is at and at that point you can clean it off. If it still makes weird sounds then the fan would need to be replaced.

Noisy fan after a few minutes start up

Yeah. i had this problem too. the fan is noisy because it is garbage. it needs to be replaced if you want to get rid of the noice. you moving the laptop wen the noise first started is just coincidence. the heatsink is fine, but the fan itself is poorly made. The ball bearings get loose and so the fan doesnt stay in its vertical plane and it kind of shakes a little, thats why it makes the noise. if you open it up and turn your laptop on, and wait for the noise, you will notice that if you push down lightly on the center of the fan, the noise goes away, because you are creating pressure at it's center of gravity point which makes it stop wobbling. you wont see the wobbling with the naked eye, because its much to slight to see, but its definatly enough to make that annoying fighter jet take-off noise..

as far as the noise, thats the sound it makes when something is wrong with the battery (if you ever drain it all the way down and try to boot it, it will make the noise) kind of messed up noise in my opinion, but its not a big deal, as long as it doesnt repeat.

for the fan, you dont need to replace it if you dont use your laptop a lot, you can try to keep your laptop cooler to keep the fan from turning on also. i suggest one of those USB fan pads that you put under the laptop, or a thermal pad, thermapak makes one for $30 i think, and it drops temps by 6 degrees celcius they claim, i dont know exact numbers but if def helped me. you can also try to put something in the back to keep the back elevated (where all the heat is) and the fan wont spin as much.

i know with desktop fans that get lots of use, noise is the 1st sign of fan failure to come, but ive been using my laptop with that god awful noise for about 4months now, and its still alive and kicking.

good luck!

Repair Acer Laptop

sounds like either the fan is shot the bearings or the hard drive is talking to you.

I recommend you get it backed up soon. here's a link for both the backup and acer support.
