The screen has horizontal coloured lines on the left half and is blank on the right half. The sound is still ok.
Could be several things going on but the unit will need to be diagnosed to be sure. I would start with checking the t-con/LCD panel ribbon connections. Outside of that could be a defective t-con or LCD panel.

it would be easier to find it stripped from a damaged set on ebay.

of course you may purchase that and find it to be the lcd driver.hopefully not.

Typical of the glue that holds the circuit to the screen coming loose.
it will take a very good repairman to fix this and he will have to know where to find the glue, its special with microbeads embedded.

First you have to check if voltage and data are ok at the Y sustain board and the Y driver boards are not running hot. Even if you know how to replace these panels you must have a scope to adjust the v-set up and v- down. Not just a simple PNP. Trouble shooting a plasma is not a short time process to do it correctly. Please let a service center look at it for you.

your tv has one the Y buffers defective.which half is black,the botton or the top? i believe that you have to call the repairman .

If the screen works for a short while and then completely fails once the TV warms up you have a problem with the main unit video board or the LCD control logic board. Most often if the picture cuts out but audio continues to work the logic board is over heating and should be replaced. However if the picture cuts out and audio shuts off as well then its your video input board.

The lines are verticle not horizontal (don't know if that makes any difference!) It is a 27' Sanyo LCD and I just wanted to know a likely cause of the problem. Thanks.
