You should have your signal in to your Comcast, then HDMI out to Sat in on your receiver. I haven't looked but I'm guessing you have multiple HDMI in on your receiver, but remember, you only have one HDMI out from receiver which would go to tv. What happens if you hook HDMI directly friom Comcast out to HDTV in.If you still have a delay there must be some sort of adjustment on your tv. When you plug into tv, Is it a default screen you can't change or, can you check say video 1, etc.? How many HDMI inputs do you have on your tv? Let me know through "add a comment"
Cable (and any source) audio should go digitally and directly to your AV receiver. HDMI would work, too, but the TV would be the best place to send the HD video if you only have the one HDMI output at the Comcast box.
OTOH, I compared both HDMI and the component video hookups to my HDTV and could not see the difference. So I run my BD on HDMI (because it is by FAR the best video the TV will ever get) and component video from the HD cable box to the TV (because all broadcast video is bit- and bandwidth-limited somewhere along the line).
TV audio almost never originates with the TV unless it has an antenna, so why would you want to feed its audio to the receiver?
if you are using HD. the colors do not really make a difference so to speak. just make sure whatever you hook to the red video goes to red video of tv and same with blue and green. then the same with red and white audio (some cables come with 3 thicker and two thiner to help with which should be audio and video) try 1800comcast
Your dvd recorder only has rca, red white yellow inputs it wont allow you to record in HD, although you can play your comcast box any hd, regular digital through and record. Hook up the comcast box if HD through preferably HDMI if not get one from comcast. The HD box is the only box that allow HDMI, component and regular RCA and some RF out. This way you can play HD to your set but also record through RCA or RF again will not allow for HD record unless its TiVo. Hope this helps
If you only have the comcast receiver and a TV, take the input (wire from outside the house or outlet on wall) and screw that onto the input of the comcast receiver. Take another wire (or RCA, component connecters or whatever means the box and TV provides) and go from the output of comcast receiver to the input of the TV. Set the TV input mode (on the TV itself or by the remote) to whatever mode you hooked up the cables to (video 1, aux, video 2, etc) and you should see a picture. From there use the comcast remote to change channel. If you use the round cable (rg56 or rg59) you will not need any other connections between the TV and the box. The video and audio are broadcast on the same line. If you use RCA (yellow red white) connectors, yellow is video, white and red are audio) you will need all three wires from comcast receiver to TV. This low audio problem happened to me suddenly yesterday. I powered off over night - no change. I plugged the A/V cables into a second TV - no change. I called Comcast - problem solved. Tap these buttons on the remote;
Connect the HDMI outputs on your various components to the HDMI inputs
on your receiver. Connect the HDMI output on the receiver to the input
on your TV. HDMI incorporates digital audio, so no need to buy optical
audio cables. If your receiver does not have HDMI inputs for all your
components, you will need to make a choice. HDMI = Best, component
video + optical audio = second best, S-video+ optical audio = third
I have a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600. I have a comcast digital box hooked up to my PC. Signal is bad and black and white media. I installed the "current" driver two weeks ago (mid October) Work great! We had to perform a PC recovery. I downloaded the "current" driver. Got weak signal and black and white only.
I had the same problem when I installed the new HD Comcast cable box (DCH3200), initially with my CRT through RF, then with my HDTV through HDMI. Problem solved when I replaced the box with the Comcast RNG110 I got from my local Comcast. It is a neat miniaturized box and it works extremely well on HD. There is no power switch on the box so before activation do not forget to put it on with the remote (cable, power, the green light will come on).
I have a Sharp Aquos 46" and go a Comcast HD receiver as well, and had the same problem turning off the Closed Captioning. I order to turn it off you need to go into the box user setting by (starting w/ the cable box and tv on) pressing the power button for the cable box then the menu button for the cable box. This will open up the user settings menu. Just toggle CLOSED CAPTION to DISABLED.
