Rowenta DX-8800 will not heat. Location of heating element?
I opened the Rowenta DX-8800 so that I could replace the heating element but cannot locate it. Where is the heating element located within the iron and what does it look like? Thanks.

The heating element is incorporated in the base. Rarely is the heating element bad. Its usually a connection or control problem. You cannot just replace the heating element.

Possible that the heating element is open. You will need to check the continuity of the element, make sure that the thermostat is contacting if not remove and reset if the element is good. The power cord is good as the light comes on.
Ur iron needs to check and adjust the THERMOSTAT SWiTCH for the heat!
Check also the THERMAL FUSE that might been blown and replace it w/ similar part!
U need to bring that iron to ur electronic technician if u can't dismantle it to adjust and replace the said parts!
hope that may help u out!
You will have to check the continutiy of the heating element . Use a multimeter and open the connection port. Look at the terminals and take the test. it must shown full continutity, if not the element has failed.. remove cover and get full access to confirm. Good day
If the input led is not glowing it means the connection to the mains inside your iron has got disconnected. Just open the iron. Check the input on the mains and check all the three wires are connected properly. It will heat again. You might have been changing to other type of clothes which requires more heat. Hence, you asked more voltage to the heating element and possibly due to more voltage the connection got broke and now the circuit is incomplete hence no led and no heatup.
Either the wiring to AC power line is broken or the heating element is broken.
The heating element is tested taking apart the iron, disconnecting element contact, and reading impedance on element contact with a multimeter set at Rx1. If the element has no continuity (circuit open), then the element must be replaced.
If the power cord is fused (like for example in UK), check also the fuse in the power cord, try replacing it.
Most irons for which you pay more than $10 (like this nice Rowenta) will have a replaceable heating element. The problem seems to be to try to find where you can get the heating element. My best bet would be for you to contact a Rowenta service center (see listing at http://tinyurl.com/danr9x). They should be able to tell you where you can get the heating element.
Before you go that route, I am assuming you already plugged the iron directly into the outlet in the wall (not in the surge strip)? Wouldn't be the first time a single outlet of a power strip goes bad.
