Boot menu

Your computer's BIOS, or basic input/output system, regulates several important system functions before your operating system loads.
The BIOS can even tell your operating system which device it should load from, whether the computer's hard drive or a USB stick.
You can control this and other options from the BIOS boot menu.
If you own an Acer Aspire One netbook and want to access the boot menu, you can do so by entering the computer's BIOS.

Turn off your Acer Aspire One netbook.
Turn it back on.

Press "F2" when you see the Acer logo appear as the computer boots up.
This will open the computer's BIOS menu.

Press the arrow keys to highlight the Boot option.
Press the down arrow key to highlight specific boot settings to change.

Press "F8" repeatedly before the Windows icon shows up on your screen.
This will bring you to the "Windows Advance Options Menu."

Press "Enter."You can select from "Safe Mode" "Safe Mode with Networking" or your regular booting option.
Choose the boot option based on your need.
For troubleshooting, it is advisable to select "Safe Mode" because only a certain amount of drivers and resources run allowing you to resolve issues.

Gateway zx4800 MBR is corrupt..error code = 0 x 57...too, need to know correct boot sequence

Windows installation CDs and DVDs have a number of system repair and recovery tools included that can get almost any computer back on its feet after a bad crash or faulty operating system installation. One very common problem that comes up when installing a second operating system is a corrupted Master Boot Record, or MBR. Windows System Recovery has tools that can fix a corrupted MBR, but if you don't have an installation CD or CD drive to put it in, you're going to need to copy the recovery materials to another medium, like a USB drive. If your MBR is corrupted, you probably don't have access to your Windows installation, so you'll have to follow most of these steps on another computer.
b> Insert the USB drive into another computer and run a command prompt window by typing "cmd" into the search box of the "Start" menu and hitting "Enter." Enter "mkdir X:\boot," and "mkdir X:\boot\sources" where X is the drive letter of your USB drive. Type "cd" and press the "Tab" key once, then hit "Enter." Enter "xcopy /H boot.sdi X:\boot," "xcopy /H Winre.wim X:\sources\boot.wim," "xcopy /H c:\windows\boot\dvd\pcat\bcd X:\boot," "xcopy /H c:\windows\boot\dvd\pcat\en-US\bootfix.bin X:\boot," and "xcopy /H c:\windows\boot\pcat\bootmgr X:\" to copy the necessary files to the USB drive. Enter "attrib -r -s -h /s X:\*" Enter "diskpart" to run the DiskPart program, then enter "list disk." The window lists the drives connected to your computer. Find your USB drive in the list and enter "select disk X", where X is the letter of your USB drive. Enter "list partition" to see the partitions on the drive and then "select partition X," where X is the number of the partition listed. Insert the USB drive into your computer and turn the computer on. Allow it to boot from the USB drive. You may have to set your USB drive as a primary boot drive in the computer's BIOS first. Enter your computer's BIOS (by tapping Delete or F2 during bootup, on most computers), then put your USB drive at the top of the "Startup" list. Go to the "Startup Repair" option in the "System Recovery Options" window. The "Startup Repair" process should correct your Master Boot Record and allow Windows to boot normally again. You will probably lose access to any other operating systems installed on your computer, though, since this recovery option is only designed to get Windows working again.
Hope this helps.

What do i do it says this on mine this is what mine has 1. IDE0 2. IDE1 3. USB FDD 4. USB HDD 5. Network Boot : Atheros Boot Agent 6. USB CDROM

Options 1 and 2 are internal hard drives. Option 3 is a USB flash drive, option 4 is a USB hard drive. Option 5 is a network boot protocol to boot from a local server. Option 6 is to boot from a USB CD drive.

If your computer does not boot in the current configuration, try selecting IDE1 instead of IDE0. One of those two drives has your operating system on it. If neither will boot, then you will need to install an operating system on one of them by inserting an install disc in a USB CD drive and selecting option 6.

No operating system found can't boot from usb there is no boot from usb option

Did you try pressing F8 key at boot up?

  • 1

Turn on your laptop and look at the first screen that comes up as soon as it is on. This screen will tell you "Press x key to enter setup", replacing "x" with the actual BIOS access key. It's usually "Del" or "F2" on Toshiba systems.

  • 2

Press the key firmly and quickly before the screen goes away. If you do not react quickly enough, you will miss the window of opportunity to enter the BIOS. On Toshiba systems, this window of opportunity is somewhere between two to five seconds.

  • 3

Navigate your BIOS configuration screen to the "Boot" tab. It is usually just before "Exit."

  • 4

As the first boot device, select "USB," or "USB HDD." If you have a "USB ZIP" option, you might be able to boot from it, so select that if you have no other choice.

  • 5

Press the button for "Save and Exit" in your BIOS. The correct button is usually F10.

Reboot and selected proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

    Hi,

Can you be more specific on your problem? Where do you see this error? How did it come about?

Just from the error your provided, this usually is seen on a computer when you have no operating system installed. If you are trying to install an operating system on your computer, you will normally do this through a CD/DVD. Your computer will need to boot up from the CD, DVD, USB or etc, whichever you are using.

To get it to do this, reboot your computer and as the computer is booting up you will see some options. We want the option that says "boot options", "settings", or "bios". Something similar to this. You will have to be quick as these options usually appear only for seconds.

If you go into your computer BIOS, you can select which device your computer will choose first to try and load an operating system. Make sure you select the right device(usb/dvd/cd etc).

If you are not trying to install an operating system, or have any questions please comment back.

I want to boot from usb but my motherboard has no option to boot from usb drive is there any software which does not require bios booting and can make my usb to directly boot. Thanx if u can...........!

Yes, it is possible to boot to a USB device, even when there is no support in the system BIOS for such a feature. To do this you would need to install a freware utilty, a boot manager, called the PLoP Boot Manager. The PLoP Boot Manager is a small program to boot different operating systems. You can boot the operating systems from harddisk, floppy, CD/DVD or from USB. You can start the boot manager from floppy, CD, network and there are many more ways to start the boot manager. You can install the boot manager on your harddisk. There is no extra partition required for the boot manager.

It can be found at: http://www.plop.at/

Is it possible to install 2nd 0/s on separate hard drive 40gb,id not sata attached via usb with laptop of dell inspiron 1525 c2d give steps to install

It depends what kind of SO do you want to install

I recommend you to user an USB Linux distro.

Anyway, normally when installing any SO lets you select the partition where you want to install the SO.
Select the partition belonging to the USB External HD, and do everything else normally.

You must have in mind that you will lose everything in the USB HD, and that using it this way the OS will work only when the HD is plugged to the same PC, it may work with a different PC with different hardware but the SO will install the new drivers for the new hardware.

That's why I recommend you to use linux, check this out www.pendrivelinux.com/
