  • Jean Sintulaire May 11, 2010

Have you adjusted the screen resolution?

  • Jean Sintulaire May 11, 2010

It could be your video driver that is causing the problem. Try some different resolution and color settings in the "Display" portion of your control panel...What version of windows do you have?

Use the zoom knob in playback mode to zoom in on the picture and see if these defects are visible then. If not, insert the card into a card reader plugged into your computer and copy the files manually rather than copying over the USB cable.

I don't believe you will be able to recover them. I did the same thing when I first got mine. One thing I learned is that you can't take the memory chip from another camera and put it in yours. You have to format it with your own camera. Don't try to format it with your computer either.

The only thing you can do is format the thing in your camera and try a few pictures again. Occasionally you can mess up the memory card too if you try to transfer files back and forth from your computer to the memory card.

I have found that while it's generally OK to transfer files from the memory card to the computer it's not a good idea to do the reverse.

Improper upload of pictures to computer from camera Canon EOS 40D

Try getting a card reader, they are cheap. It sounds like the software is having a problem communicating.

Canon PowerShot SD700 IS won't upload the photos to the PC?

You could avoid this problem by using a simple cheap SD card reader. Remove the SD card from your camera, insert the SD card in the reader and connect the reader to your PC/Laptop by a USB cable. You can then useWindows to view and upload your pictures

Photo is blurred and distorted

It is possible that this is a CCD issue, and may be subject to a recall by Canon. Take a look at: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&fcategoryid=225&modelid=13390&keycode=2112&id=29819 for more details about the recall.
