Last month I got a new HP C6280 printer. I do seem to like it but it won't take my Kodak picture paper like my old HP did. It even tells me on the machine that I have incorrect paper. Do I need to buy HP soft gloss?? I would appreciate your help. Thank you, Val Osborn

Isolate the problem if it happens only on a specific paper or the issue is with paper loading.

  1. Turn off the all-in-one and unplug the power cord.
  2. Remove the rear access door.
  3. Clean each roller using a clean lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water (distilled water preferred).
  4. Rotate the rollers to clean the entire surface.
  5. Verify that the paper feed rollers on the rear access door are clean and rotate easily.
  6. Re-seat the rear access door.
  7. Plug in the power cord and turn on the all-in-one.

I think you just need to adjust the paper settings. what is it set on right now? you possibly need to set it to Photo Paper. you maybe able to adjust this in the printer but I know that you can adjust this when you are printing a document. but if you get the error message of incorrect paper on the printer then the setting has to be changed in the printer and not on the pc.

have to digin to the manual to get you some detailed instructions on that.

This printer appears to accept HP Advanced Photo Paper and HP Premium Presentation Paper. The HP soft gloss should work as well.

Why do i have a false jam reading?

I understand that you're receiving what you believe to be a 'false' paper jam on your HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer. I would like to work with you today with resolving this issue. Paper jams can be real or false. The product might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. A false paper jam may also be the result of having a bad paper jam at a point in time and that bad jam causing a hardware issue to the paper sensor or rollers. I am going to provide you with some additional troubleshooting steps that apply to both real and false paper jams. You did state that you already checked the paper pathway inside the printer and failed to find any evidence of paper being stuck, but please run the step-by-step troubleshooting below, even if you have already run some of the steps.

Here are the steps for clearing the path:

It seems that the rollers won't advance the paper. The error message of course tells me that it is out of paper. I haven't used it in over one year, could that have something to do with the problem?

Things to try are listed in this support document from HP: (recommend cleaning the rollers #4)

HP Photosmart C6280 Out of Paper

Lack of use could be a factor as it pertains to dust buildup on the working parts of the feed, especially the rollers.

Highlight the printer in the printer setup area, and click open, and delete all print jobs.

Once properly deleted, it can not re-appear..

Try this first, it should clear the buffer, and then the picture issue may go away.. If not, provide error details.

I have a Kodak easyshare all in one printer 5100

You need to clean the printhead of the printer to solve that

issue. Because everytime you print, excessive inks are going

to the printhead that's the reason why it's clogging the

system up. That's because Kodak printers is using

"pigments" as inks that's why Kodak printers are producing

high quality prints unlike other printers - a photo printed from

kodak could actually last for about 100 years. Now back to

your issue, you need to clean the printhead from the printer

but not manually. You could clean it by going to the

software of the printer namely the KODAK HOME

CENTER SOFTWARE. You need to click the "?" mark

icon on the upper right corner of the software window then

under the General Links select Maintenance then choose

Clean Printhead. Do it at least twice and then try making

prints. If that still doesn't work try calling Kodak Technical

I hope I have been some of help. ^_^

Very light printing

Call Kodak and tell them you're problems. I was in same boat with new cartridges and still problems. My printer was only 9 month old and printed over 600 pages. I received my new printhead along with brand new cartridges and sample of 4x6 photo paper. However, having problems removing the printhead. New printhead came within 1 business day of calling Kodak!
