Re: My Psp wouldn't download any gaming materials.
You need to download the Update from Playstation.com and store it on your memory stick. Evidently you have a corrupted update file on the UMD. The only way outside of that is get a new UMD game that does not have a corrupted update file.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. goodluck!

if you have wifi: turn on your psp, on the xmb (main dashboard) go to the far left option (settings) scroll up twice and click network update, it will take you through the update process. if you don't have wifi: you need to download the official firmware package, then put it on your memory stick in a folder you create called UPDATES (in all caps!!!), then turn on your psp and the update will be under games in your xmb.
1.Go to Settings from your homescreen.
2.Find the ''System Update'' it should be at the top of the list.
3.You are given two choices Update via Internet or Update via Storage Media, select Update via Internet.
4.You should be asked which Access point you want to use, if you've not setup an internet connection with your PSP do it now.
5.It should begin Downloading the update wait for it to download it.
6.It may automatically start the update process(if it automatically starts skip to step 7), if it does not then go back to System Update and select Update via Storage Media.
7.It should ask you to accept the license agreement it should then ask you to make sure not to remove the AC adaptor etc after this it should start updating.
8.Now that it has finished updating, delete the update by going to Games select Memory Stick it should say about the update delete it.
You can downgrade your psp without a pandora battery but you will need a Lumines game hack,Follow these steps to do so.
Download the 5.50.pbp file. Rename the 5.50.pbp file to "UPDATE.PBP." Connect your PSP to your computer with the USB cable and select "USB Connection" to place the PSP into USB mode. A window will appear on your computer and you will be able to see the PSP memory stick files.
Download the downgrade pack. Open the "MS_ROOT" folder from the downgrade pack. Right-click the "PSP" folder and click "Copy." Go back to the PSP memory stick and right-click it. Click "Paste" and "Yes" to overwrite the data.
Right-click the UPDATE.PBP file that you downloaded in step one and click "Copy." Open the "PSP" folder on the PSP memory stick and you will see the "GAME" folder. Open this folder to reveal the "UPDATE" folder. Right-click the "UPDATE" folder and click "Paste" to transfer the update file to your PSP memory stick. The downgrade pack and 5.50 update file are on the PSP memory stick. Press the "O" button to safely disconnect the PSP from your computer.
Insert the Lumines PSP game into the PSP drive. Select the game from the PSP menu to start. Press the "Start" button when you get to the Lumines start screen. Your screen will blink red and will turn completely blue. You will be brought back to the PSP screen. It is important to not press any buttons before you get to the Lumines start screen.
Go to the game section of the PSP menu and you will now be able to see the "x.yz update" application. Select it with the "X" button to start it. Press the "X button from the main menu to start the downgrading process. Press "X" again to reboot the PSP when the downgrade has completed. You have now downgraded your PSP to 5.50 firmware.
Get the firmware upgrade data. You can get one on the official PSP website. When clicking Download Now, remember to Save
it, not open it. The file name should be EBOOT.PBP Save somehwhere
where you can access it easily e.g. Desktop, My Documents, C:\.
Plug in your USB cable that you have bought or had to your PC or
Computer (same thing). On your PSP you should go to System Settings and
on the 2nd from the top press (X) on USB Connect. On your computer it
should say something like New Hardware detected USB Mass Storage
Device. In My Computer there should be something named "Removable Disk"
Click on the Removable Disk and inside there might (might not be) be a folder named "PSP". Click on the PSP folder to go inside of it and inside the PSP there might be a subfolder named "GAME".
Inside the GAMES folder, create a new folder and name it UPDATE in
caps, no spaces. Inside that UPDATE folder drag and drop that EBOOT.PBP
that you downloaded earlier.
If the PSP folder and GAME folder are not there, you can just
create them. Remember that the folder name MUST be in CAPITAL LETTERS
and the the GAMES folder is INSIDE the PSP folder, don't mess this up or your PSP will ignore your folders
"Safely Remove Hardware" -- this should be in your Icon Bar on the Right side of your start bar.
Fully charge your PSP and plug it into the wall. Go to the Games Area; there should be an Icon that says Memory Stick Choose that by Pressing "X" and you'll see PSP Update Version *.** (* meaning what version you've downloaded onto your PSP).
Press PSP Update Version *.**, It'll clear the screen for a few
seconds and come back on saying "PSP System Software Version *.**" It
has a "Start" option or says that you already have that version. Press
the Start if you want to upgrade.
Go through the User Agreement and start the upgrade Process. When it starts, remember not to even touch that PSP. Just leave it alone on the floor, desk , chair, etc.
