Question about Acer TravelMate 2300 Notebook
I have an acer travelmate 2480 and i purchased a exteneded 2 year mamufacturing warrenty, but I was wandering if I can change the 512 RAM out and go to 2 1gig. I have a total of 1 gig (2 sticks of 512). I dont want to mess up the warrenty.
You wouldn't be voiding the warranty if you will buy the memory from Acer or ask them to walk you through installing it. You can call their tech support over the phone for assistance.
You have to know though that your laptop may just have two slots for the memory. That means you have to discard one or both the cards to install bigger RAM's.
Should you buy a non-Acer memory card, the warranty for the whole system should not be voided. But if the installation of the 3rd party memory card causes one of the parts of your computer to be defective, the warranty cant be used to replace that part.
Still, it's better to check the terms and conditions in their website. Just choose the warranty that you bought with the system here.
To be safe, better buy the memory from Acer or have them help you install it.
